This was our first time visiting, and since it’s a place that so many people seem to go to, we decided to give it a try. We ordered a 12-inch pizza and a salad.
The salad was pretty good and enjoyable, but the pizza was very thin and quite crispy. For my personal taste, the texture felt a bit too hard—almost like it was slightly overcooked.
It looked like most people were ordering slice by slice rather than whole pies, which makes sense for the area. As for the price, it was reasonable considering it’s located in Downtown. Overall, it was a decent experience, though the pizza texture just wasn’t quite my style.

Pizzanista! Was really great! Pizza is my favorite food so whenever I’m in a new area or see a pizza joint I’ve never been to I will try to order from there. This restaurant was definitely a 5 star restaurant. New York style pizza with lots of flavor. It was thin, not too greasy and just enough sauce. The fountain drinks were really cool too. Not the traditional brand sodas they have everywhere. The restaurant is cozy but they have several booths. The staff was welcoming and friendly. They were busy being it was Saturday night but they still made it a point to greet each costumer. I’m not in DTLA often but now I have a reason to go.

TLDR: Divey pizza place with vegan slice options.

On a food tour, I came across Pizzanista on a Sunday. Any other day, I wouldn’t risk braving DTLA traffic and parking, but I was able to find easy free street parking.

The place is dark, with loud music, and features 12+ slices, of which 4 are vegan.

The place is solid, but not necessarily the best pizza in LA. It satisfies your cravings and isn’t obtusely priced. 4 vegan slices plus tip around $30.

Service is friendly and I got my 4 pizza slices in under 4 minutes, perhaps helped by the fact that there were no competing orders. It tasted great while fresh, with a bit of chewy mouthful.

I ordered 3 thin crusts: vegan pepperoni, vegan veggies, vegan seitan meats Jesus, and a Sicilian style focaccia thick crust.

My favorites were vegan seitan meats Jesus (what loaded name) that had bits of crispy vegan bacon and pepperoni, and the vegan veggies (very juicy). The other 2 were passable.

Overall, Pizzanista was a better than average vegan pizza experience. Not in the same league as Hot Tongue, but if you are in DTLA arts district, a solid choice.

I love this place. I moved to LA from Brooklyn, and Pizzanista is like a little chunk of Brooklyn smack dab in the middle of the Art District. The only place I can compare it to is Screamers Pizza.

I’m vegan, and Pizzanista has an incredible selection of vegan pizza, sold by the pie AND the slice (rare in these parts)—from vegan pepperoni to supreme to grandma to veggie supreme. And so many more. They play incredible music—lots of new wave and punk and post punk—and have back issues of Thrasher to flip through, which feels unique. The servers are friendly. At 6-7pm on a Saturday, this place becomes LIVELY. I recommend ordering in advance unless you don’t mind waiting 10-15 minutes for your order. That said, Pizzanista and the hip Los Angelenos it attracts will keep you entertained while you do.

Old school dark grunge atmosphere, not bad. Bought a vegan 18 in round and a vegan sicilian and they were HUGE. Highly recommend the Sicilian as it had nice dough texture, good sauce and perfect cheese (vegan). The 18 round was okay, but VERY thin. Like paper and was lightly sauced. But you get A LOT of pizza for the value. I would definitely go again and when it’s fresh

WOW! The Best Vegan Pizza in Town!

Whether by the slice or a whole box, this place is a must-try! I had the Vegan 3 Meat pizza, and it was hands down the most delicious Vegan pizza I’ve ever had. It tastes just like the real deal, but without any animal suffering.

The slice was surprisingly huge. The crust was slightly crunchy, with that authentic Italian flavor, and the vegan cheese was perfect—no weird aftertaste at all. I was very satisfied.

A thoughtful touch they offer chili flakes and nutritional yeast for extra flavor and protein!!! This place deserves 100 stars—totally worth the drive. The staff is very kind and friendly!! I only wish they had more locations because this vegan pizza is that good! Highly recommended!

The food was superb! The decor was nice exactly what an Italian restaurant looks like but, the death metal music was too loud and didn’t match the Italian vibe to create an authentic ambiance. I had to shout across the table to my husband…I’d definitely stop for pizza again however, I’d take it to go.

Their outdoor seating and vegan options are quite great. I loved the ambiance, the pizza, the topping, and the whole atmosphere. They know how to keep their customers satisfied. In terms of pricing, they are absolutely affordable.

The pizza slices weren’t that great honestly. First of all, they were inconsistent. One slice floppy, another rock hard almost to the point of being un-chewable. Secondly, the crust is super thin and so is the amount of toppings if you know what I mean.
