Really cool place in a prime location. Our waitress was extremely nice and the atmosphere here was very comfortable.

Our table shared apps like the arancini, zucchini fritti, and calamari. All very good except the calamari, it was just OK. Not much flavor and there were several tough pieces.

I ordered the calabrese pizza which had really good flavor. However, the dough was pretty thick and chewy. I confirmed with the waitress if it was neopolitan style and she said yes – but it was poorly executed.

I tried someone else’s ravioli, and it was pretty blah. Texture could’ve improved.

The flavor of the sauces were lacking.

The wine we shared at the table was excellent though. I believe it was the Chianti.

Delicious!

Walked in during a packed lunch and the greeting was a little slow, but once we got seated upstairs? Impeccable from there.

The Stracciatella Salsiccia pizza was wood-fired perfection. Charred on the bottom, pillowy edges, creamy stracciatella, well-seasoned sausage with just a hint of heat, and hot honey that surprised you on every other bite. Came to the table hot and everything worked together beautifully.

Vodka martini was cold and dry with ice crystals at the top. Kettle One, extra olives stuffed with cheese. Done correctly.

The berry cheesecake was homemade and you could tell. Light, almost crumbly, with fresh berry compote on top. Divine.

Service after seating was excellent. Cup never empty, pacing was smooth, server was warm and attentive.

Came with my son. He got a Coke in a glass bottle and was thrilled. We shared the pizza and dessert and left very satisfied.

This is now my go-to spot for bringing people into town. When you need a guaranteed win in Market Square, this is it. 10/10.

Awesome! I came here for lunch and was not disappointed. I was greeted and seated immediately and waitress was prompt. Sarah was courteous and offered a suggestion of pizza along with a discription of the in house specialties. I ordered one of their newest pizzas (a white sauce base) which was delightful. I finished it with a cafe latte made with Nicholas Coffee Beans! I can’t wait to return and bring my wife! Highly recommended.

Needed a place for lunch and glad we found this place! The food was excellent and fresh, same with the wine and beer. We enjoyed the pizza, pasta limone, and tiramisu. Wait staff was friendly and greeted us quickly. Will definitely be back!

The best restaurant in town for Italian food. Make sure you order bread to dip the beautiful reduced sauces. Also! Exquisite bread pudding for dessert

While exploring the area we came across this place and decided to give it a try and it didn’t disappoint. The pastas were 10/10 and so was the pizza our server was nice I’ll definitely be going back when I visit Pittsburgh again.

The Marketplace Square is undergoing a huge renovation, but luckily most of the restaurants are able to remain open during construction.
We wanted some Italian and this was a good choice for that. Beautifully simple old world building with a bit of a modern day flair. We ordered the Burrata salad which was excellent, and the Stracciatella pizza, both to share between us. We enjoyed both of these dishes immensely. Service was good and the meal was sufficient without breaking the bank.

Pizzaiolo Primo in Downtown Pittsburgh surprised me in some ways and disappointed me in others.
I am really pleased to say that the food and drinks were delicious! You can tell that everything is prepared fresh, with care and precision. They put an effort into using high quality ingredients. The homemade pasta is such a treat! I had the cacio e pepe with grilled chicken. It was just divine. And their pizza is cooked in a stone oven, which just creates a great crust and a great flavor.
I was disappointed in the service. Our waitress was flighty and kind of rushed us. Our reservation was one of the last of the day before closing and I definitely felt pressure to order and eat quickly because the staff wanted to leave.
I could hear the staff loudly talking about looking forward to leaving and I can’t help but assume that was intentional. Our reservation afforded us plenty of time to dine at a comfortable pace. Perhaps they should adjust their policy and not allow reservations after a certain time or even better, maybe the staff needs to be reminded that if someone comes in 45 to 60 minutes before close then that is more than enough time for them to be treated to a comfortable, normally paced meal.

How does a restaurant become really successful and have patrons visiting them again and again. The secret is in the little things that makes a guest feel welcomed to have a memorable experience. Pizzaiolo is the place, from making a reservation and the follow up with us to confirm and also taking care of our request for a piece of cake to celebrate our teenager’s birthday was cherry on top, every dish came out amazing and kept us wanting for more, the make their own mozzarella in house and its very unique and has an umami aftertaste which lingers about just enough until you have the next dish and then the taste just carries on. Pizza was excellent, and oooh gnocchi gnocchi gnocchi, just melted as soon as you put in your mouth. Just perfectly balanced with tomatoes and well the tasty mozzarella.

The staff was amazing and friendly and welcomed us and gave us an amazing experience to remember.

Would definitely recommend reserving your spot before you come, this place is always packed.

Oh my god if I could give this a billion stars I would in a heartbeat! First thing when you walk up is notice it’s a little hole in the wall piece of Italy. Then you get into the restaraunt and the atmosphere is amazing. The service was quick and kind and the food…..oh..my…goodness. I’m gonna have dreams about the Linguini Florentina. It was seriously the best pasta I have ever had in my entire life. The noodles were thick but not too thick. They were cooked perfectly. The shrimp was seriously so fresh. The lemon zest added a good pop of acidity and the spinach was to die for. I would eat here every day if I could. 15/10 recommend.
