I’ve been getting my pizza here for over 55 years. We don’t live nearby the shop anymore, but still make the trip to get the large, thick crust treat.
The owners retired to Florida and the “kids” run it now on a limited basis because there are so many dedicated customers.
Take out only.
Cash only.
Only open a few hours a day and only a few days per week.

Most unique type of pizza! More of a bread like crust and sweet sauce. Totally amazing! Not really a sit in type of place just to pick up.

I grew up in Overbrook. Fast forward to when I had a family of my own. We always had Pizza Shack Pizza when we had a few extra bucks. We now live in Florida and always make sure that we stop there when in the burgh. And don’t forget, Danny’s Pizza in Bethel Park

Not sure what all the fuss is about this place. The pizza is trash. I’m not kidding. My school cafeteria pizza tastes better than this. The sauce tastes like sweet fruit is in it, the cheese is flavorless and the pizza dough is disgusting. Never again. Truly the worst pizza I ever ate in my life. I had to immediately order a pizza from another shop because I couldn’t even finish one slice. Truly disgusting.

If you’re in the mood for some fantastic pizza, then you need to head on over to Pizza Shack! The pizza here is some of the best I’ve ever had – it’s perfectly cooked with a crispy, thin crust and topped with a delicious combination of all your favorite toppings. The sauce is perfectly seasoned and the cheese is always melted to perfection. Whether you’re in the mood for a classic pepperoni or something a little more adventurous, Pizza Shack has you covered. And if you’re really hungry, you can’t go wrong with the large wpizza – it’s huge! The only downside to Pizza Shack is that it’s a bit on the pricey side, but it’s definitely worth it for the amazing pizza.

Pizza Shack is the best in Pittsburgh for square pizza. The sauce has a slight sweet taste. I grew up eating this pizza and I am 62 y/o. Im getting some this Friday 8/1/25. Driving up from Virginia to visit the family. We usually get 4 large pizzas for our family of 10. Usually left overs which don’t last a day. Same family has owned it all these years. They are wonderful people.

In trying out all the pizza places in my area, and along 51, we find this cozy pizza joint that’s all too easy to miss if you don’t happen to be looking through the storefronts. What is there to say?

First off, if you google their online menu right now as of 11-7-22, it’s not correct. It’s for a different place. All they offer at Pizza Shack is a standard Pizza in a few sizes, and with different toppings. Though, I believe they do offer them in a form ready to be frozen and stuffed into an oven at home. I may be wrong there, but I think I recall seeing that inside.

Second, this place is Cash Only. No card. So, bring the bills if you want to order.

But now, with that aside, how was the pizza?

As you might expect from any place that hopes to survive as Cash Only, the pizza was very, very good! I am willing to qualify that the sauce was very sweet, and it did run a fair bit. However, there wasn’t too much (or too little), and it had good signs of being very freshly made. Which I think stacks with the fact you can watch them make pizza in front of you when you go to pick it up.

It may seem rather unappealing when every place tries to come up with a signature pizza, or offer a dozen options of appetizers. But, if you just want a conventional pizza you might find anywhere, and want to emphasize the hand-made touch? I’d strongly consider Pizza Shack.

I’ll also include a photo I took of their menu in this review.

First two clipped toppings are Sausage and Pepperoni.

It’s COVID season and we want to support local businesses. This place comes highly recommended so we had to try it. They were busy and not answering the phone ☎️, so we had to order in person.

– the sauce is really sweet. Sweeter than what I’m used to on pizza. I personally liked the sweet sauce others in our family didn’t think it was great.

I love square pizza and think that’s the best. If you want a nice thick pizza crust this is the one for you.

The cheese was good. They put a lot on. Almost to the point that it makes it hard to tear the pizza without taking the cheese off other slices.

Give it a shot and tell me what you think!

Used to get this place as a kid so much I didn’t like it…came back 20 years later to try it again and it was amazing. The sauce is so good and the sqaure cuts were cooked perfect I can see why my parents hyped it up.
