2021: Although I was disappointed that the buffet wasn’t back yet, I still got my Salem Special! My husband (who doesn’t eat any peppers, olives, etc.) was thrilled with all the cheese on the pepperoni pizza.
2019: This is my absolute favorite pizza place, and I’ve lived all over the country. I especially love the buffet, which has a great variety of toppings in interesting combinations.
2017: I always get a Salem Special when I’m home visiting family! We were fortunate to make it in time for the lunch buffet yesterday. The variety was great and the staff were friendly and helpful!

Well it was sad to see my local Pizza Man of Mt. Vernon close but it also required us to commute to Salem,Illinois whenever the opportunity arises and be able to say the trip itself was worth it would be an understatement!

Have been there four times in the last couple of months. Had pizza luncheon special three times and the pizza was very good with a good salad that had tomatoes, carrots and cheese. I also had the lasagna at lunch and it was hot and delicious. Service the first time was a little confusing, but they have all the bugs worked out so food delivery was great too. Friendly staff.

Way overpriced! No seasoning on the pizza and my 2-liter coke was in an old milk jug (see pic)! Thus place used to be awesome!

Pizza was good. A little expensive, but that was expected. Restaurant was pretty clean and the people behind the counter were courteous. Why I gave the service 2 stars was that it took over an hour to get 2 pizzas out to us. They weren’t very busy either, so I don’t know what took so long!

Today we decided to get a pizza for carry out after church due to the football game. We ordered a large veggie pizza and it was the most beautiful pizza ever!…wish I had thought to take a picture but I was so hungry we just dove in lol. It was PERFECT! The thin & crispy crust along with all the fresh veggies! It couldn’t have been any better!

We can always count on a great pizza from Pizza Man. Friendly service, great food, and nice atmosphere. Some of the best pizza crust around, and I know of no one else who has the unique recipe. It was at Pizza Man I first learned to dip my pizza in French dressing, for a sweet and spicy treat. Definitely recommend!

We pass Pizza Man on our travels all the time, we love the retro sign out front and we finally stopped by today. Why didn’t we do this sooner!?!? We got the Salem Special, so good! Crispy crust, loaded toppings, just the right amount of spicy. I thought it looked a little light on cheese until I took a bite and it was melty mozzarella experience. We also got the cinnamon sticks. I really liked but my boyfriend didn’t care for the salty crust with sweet toppings. We did drive thru so can’t comment on the atmosphere. The staff was super friendly from phone order to pickup. Well dine, keep up the good! We will be back on our next time through town.

I try to come here every time I’m back in IL to visit. There are so many great memories coming here as a kid, stuffing my face with pizza and playing video games. Miss all the video games, but hey, it’s a different time. They were remodeling this visit. I look forward to seeing what they do with the place!

The Pizza Man everybody grew up loving is gone. The taste, fresh meats and other ingredients, most of the known staff, dipping dressing, to Go cups, all gone or changed. I don’t know why anyone would change a great thing, but if you want a nice dining experience go somewhere else.
