It’s a small place, with three rows of tables, but Wabash is quite small. There are a couple of customers that look like they have been waiting a while, that should have been the first warning sign.
We order, and that seems to go well, they have Coke Zero in bottles, which is more expensive than fountain, but worth it in my opinion.
Then we wait, some of the tables needed clearing, but we find a clean and quite tight booth seating. The people who were waiting are still waiting 15 minutes later. And more customers are coming in. It’s pizza, how hard can it be.
Eventually, my partner goes and checks on where our order is, and apparently they forgot.
After that, we wait another 10 minutes and finally get our order. The food tastes great, but it was a shame about the length of time it took to get it.
Overall, I think we would have chosen somewhere else had we known the service was going to be that bad. We did get to the concert in time though and we were able to park right outside. pizza King on the street.
Smooth ordering, getting drinks, etc. so we were off to a flying start but then tragedy struck. The staffer removing the pie from the oven had a little slip and our freshly baked Royal Feast succumb to gravity and was toast. They were very apologetic and replaced the pie in short order but made a Meat Feast instead. Oh, the conundrum we faced. Eat it and let it slide because we were hungry or telll them. We decided to tell and they were again very apologetic and whipped up a new and correct pie very quickly and gave us the Meat Feast to go.
Overall, what could have been a utterly terrible experience was not that at all because the staff handled it very well. Honestly, it was a one in a million circumstance so you can’t really be mad since they made everything right in the end.
Next time we are traveling through, I would have no problem at all stopping by again for a luscious Royal Feast and their wonderful hospitality.
The toppings are still decent, but the pizza sauce is sickeningly sweet. Tastes like ketchup that met a basil leaf once in passing. The sauce completely detracts from the pizza eating experience. The crust is nice and crispy with a hint of salt and I enjoy it… They still have the diced pepperoni which is nice… If they had left the sauce alone this would still be a perfect review.
I always looked forward to having a pizza from here when we visited family… but that has been taken away from me. Reason I don’t like the PKs near me in Indianapolis is the sickeningly sweet sauce and now it has spread worse than a virus to other Pizza Kings in the state. Would be a 1 star review from the sauce but the decent toppings and crust and nice staff deserve at least 3*.
The only way this pizza was palatable was tossing the pizza on the stove over night when we went to sleep. The next day the cold pizza tastes better than the fresh ever could. Seriously sad about the changes to one of my favorite pizza places in the state… I used to drive for it.
