I was on my way to grab Thai food at a near by restaurant when I came across this restaurant. I figure Mediterranean has lots of veggie options, so I decided to ditch my earlier plans. The service was great, with very friendly staff however, the food was way too lo salty. So much so that I could not finish it. The soup was great though. After I got up to leave I told the lady at the counter that the food was too salty. Not what I expected from Mediterranean food.

After receiving an apology from the restaurant a few weeks later, I decided that the next time I am in town I will give them a second chance i.e a surprise visit. So, on January 28, 2026 I decided to stop by for dinner. This time the food was perfect, not salty. I was able to enjoy my meal. It was then I realized how large the portion is for the price. I enjoyed the lentil soup and every bit of my main course. The girls at the counter was very polite. After my second visit, I will update my food experience and overall experience to 5 star. See update pictures as well.

I ordered a fairly large amount of food and was disappointed with the overall experience. The order came with sauce, but when I asked for it, I was told the sauce costs extra and I had to pay more. For the amount of money I spent, I felt the portion sizes were not sufficient.

To make matters worse, the pita bread was literally placed in the bag straight from a wholesaler package. I’ve been to many restaurants where they at least warm the pita and wrap it in foil, which is a basic expectation.

Overall, the quality and value did not match the price, and I won’t be returning.

The food was awesome, and I really enjoyed my salad from this restaurant, alongside my family! When I came inside, I was charmed by the interior of the restaurant, so I decided to show my parents it, and the owner noticed, letting me know of the fountains behind the restaurant that just blew me away! On top of that, he gave me a free baklava for taking photos and videos, which was SUPER nice! Definitely recommend coming here, especially since the meat is halal

I got the super combination plate and I was severely disappointed. I mean it has a bit of everything but most of the meat was dry and tasteless. I’ve been to other places where the meat is very moist and flavorful. For the price I can’t expect much but it could have been a decent meat. The only thing good was the mango juice. Besides that, there is plenty of seating inside and outside. Parking is sufficient. This is a one and done for me.

Lamb Kabab Platter is the best in town. After 2020 me & my son started eating out more (funny part )… He was young & exploring different meats. Lamb clicked and the new era begun. Since then we enjoyed their Kababs , Falafel Platter , Chicken is ok ok. Tahini is great but, but & another but their Spicy Chutney is out of this world. Way better than even Pita Inn (you know only if you’re from Chicago area). Can’t compare their Spicy Chutney at all. Way above respect for Pita House for specifically that reason. Have warm Pita with it & it’s Heavenly (without “Bodies” ). Must visit and eat there since take out won’t justify…..

I recently visited Pita House in Schaumburg. While there is potential for this to be a standout local Middle Eastern spot, several areas currently fall short of a high-quality dining experience.

The execution in the kitchen needs more consistency. Specifically, the pita bread was disappointing; it was rolled unevenly—making it too thin on one side to hold dips—and it wasn’t cut properly for the table. Additionally, the drinks were poor quality, lacking the freshness or balance you’d expect. Whether it’s specialty teas, coffees, or juices, the beverage program needs an upgrade to match the menu.

The restaurant currently lacks warmth. The environment feels a bit clinical and would benefit greatly from improved lighting, updated decor, or background music. With a few aesthetic changes, the space could feel like an inviting destination rather than just a functional space.

I want to see this local business thrive, but the attention to detail—from the thickness of the bread to the quality of the drinks—isn’t quite there yet. With a focus on quality control and a more welcoming atmosphere, Pita House could be much better.

The food is consistently great, which is hard to pull off, but Pita House always delivers. Every visit tastes just as good as the last. I would confidently recommend it to anyone craving authentic Mediterranean food. The quality, service, and prices all make it a great choice.

Looking at how beautiful the atmosphere is, I am honestly disappointed in the food. The rice was dry, i had the combination feast and the meat didn’t taste as good as other places. Only reason I came here was to try it for the first time and I got disappointed I couldn’t even finish my plate when I realized the chicken I was served was raw i’ll attach a video.

Super fresh falafel, humus, & pita bread!!! We wanted to assemble some old school falafel sandwiches with humus, crushed up falafel, fried cauliflower, tahini salad, tahini sauce, & red hot pepper sauce. Oh man!!! The tahini sauce & red hot pepper sauce are really good from here 🙂 The yellow rice is also very tasty! Pro tip if you’re trying to get here off of Golf Rd & coming from the west (Barrington Rd behind you), you can just pass the Taco Bell on your right & make a right at the traffic light right after it. Go in a little & the Pita House will be on your left shortly after. Made things MUCH easier for me. I pulled in & found a VIP spot & parked my car in 5 seconds

Mediterranean Kitchen: A Casual First Encounter
Our initial visit to PitHouse Mediterranean Kitchen offered a glimpse into a no-frills, self-service Mediterranean dining experience. Located conveniently with ample parking, this spot allows you to walk right in and place your order at the counter. The menu, clearly displayed on the wall and thoughtfully available in paper form for takeaway (a definite plus for future catering considerations!), made ordering straightforward.
We opted for the APPETIZER COMBO, featuring Hummus, Baba Ghannouj, Jerusalem Salad, and Tabouleh Salad. While the selection provided a nice variety of classic dips and salads, the freshness of the latter seemed to be lacking. The creamy hummus and smoky baba ghannouj were enjoyable, but the salads could have benefited from a crisper presentation.
Moving on to the mains, the CHICKEN KABAB proved to be a satisfying choice. The grilled strips of chicken were indeed tender, and the generous portion size, accompanied by flavorful rice pilaf, a simple salad, and warm pita bread, offered good value. In contrast, the CHICKEN SHAWARMA SANDWICH was a bit of a letdown, leaning towards the drier side. Thankfully, a side of sauce helped to improve the overall taste, but more integrated moisture would have elevated the sandwich.
The atmosphere during our Saturday lunch visit was quiet, with only a few other patrons. The background music, described as “old style and boring,” didn’t contribute much to the ambiance. Furthermore, we noted that our table wasn’t perfectly clean upon arrival, requiring a quick wipe-down.
Despite these minor drawbacks, our overall impression of PitHouse Mediterranean Kitchen was positive.
