Hands down one of the best experiences I’ve had at Pita BBQ — and it’s all thanks to Karin.
From the moment I walked in, he set the tone: friendly, professional, and genuinely passionate about what he does. The food hit even harder when paired with that kind of service — you can tell he takes pride in making sure every guest leaves satisfied.
It’s rare to see someone that locked in and consistent every time. If you go to Pita BBQ, ask for Karin. He’ll take care of you the right way.

Absolutely amazing experience! The workers were a joy to be around from the moment we walked in. The cook named Muhammed was so cheerful and happy to talk to us, his mood changed my mood for the better for the rest of the day! The food was DELICIOUS. We each got the spicy chicken shawarma wraps, hummus & fresh pita, and the spicy peri peri fries! Wow it was amazing, 10/10 will go back everytime I am in the area. Thanks guys!

My son finally convinced me to try Schwarma, and I was like it’s a type of gyro how much more can you make it different? Well this place showed me! Beef Schwarma was great! French fries too! The peri peri fries are a different spice hot with garlic sauce. In addition the order taker was patient as we advised it was our first time and was more than accommodating, we now have a new culinary culture to add to ” what should we eat tonight for dinner”

Cold falafel. Not an exaggeration, there wasnt even an attempt to microwave them. Cold gross waste of money. Restaurant smells as soon as you walk in, and not of good food. It’s purely representative of the dingy gross condition of the restaurant…. Ew. Will not be back.

Edit: If ownership wants to speak to their bad food and dirty restaurant they only do so through email. Not a great way to be transparent and run your business. Do yourselves a favor, save your money for hot food from a cleaner place.

Pita BBQ in Elgin, Illinois, is a true gem that brings authentic Mediterranean flavors to the local community. As the second location of this mom-and-pop halal fast food spot, it continues the tradition of offering high-quality, flavorful dishes that make you feel like you’re dining in the heart of the Mediterranean. The menu is packed with traditional favorites, from tender, juicy kebabs to perfectly spiced shawarma, fresh salads, and deliciously seasoned rice. Each dish is crafted with care, ensuring that the flavors are rich and satisfying.

The restaurant’s style is simple and unpretentious, focusing on cleanliness and creating a welcoming atmosphere. It’s the kind of place where you can immediately feel at ease, whether you’re grabbing a quick bite or sitting down for a relaxed meal. The environment is warm and inviting, making it easy to see why Pita BBQ has quickly become a local favorite.

What really sets Pita BBQ apart is the people. The employees are incredibly friendly and welcoming, going out of their way to make sure you have a great experience. During my visit, I had the chance to chat and laugh with the staff, which added a personal touch that you don’t often find in many restaurants. The owner, Shahzad, was also present, and he was as laid-back and approachable as you could hope for. His passion for the food and commitment to quality shine through in every aspect of the restaurant.

Overall, Pita BBQ offers more than just great food—it provides a dining experience that feels personal and connected. It’s a place where you’re not just another customer, but a valued guest. If you’re in Elgin and craving authentic Mediterranean cuisine with a welcoming vibe, Pita BBQ is the spot to be.

Every piece of meat is dry. I shouldn’t have to use sauce with every bite just to get the food to go down.

Edit ( I’ve emailed the email on file with no response. I called the store to try and get ahold of “shaz” spoke with someone that said “shaz is my brother” he proceeded to ask me why I called. I explained to him. In the conversation he asked me my name 4 times, I told answered him 4x “my name is Bradley” as we were wrapping our conversation he goes “you said your name is Jacob”.

Little traffic. Great personnel. Vast seating area.
Ordered Gyro with fries and an extra Pita.
The Fries were great! The sandwich was drowned in sauce and some of the meat was under cooked. Pita’s were flat, smashed and lifeless. Could have been a tortilla.
Overall, I will not go back.
