This place is a real gym in downtown Brenham Texas.
I had the taste of New Orleans burger, which was excellent. The patty is massive on their burgers.
They have really unique burger offerings, combining different meats with the burger patty.
The atmosphere is really cool.
The outdoor seating area is unique. Lots of cool memorabilia on display.
Looking forward to going back in the future.

We were in Brenham for a business meeting and asked the host team for a barbecue recommendation and they recommended Pioneer’s Smokehouse. We went over there for a late lunch/early dinner and had a great experience. My husband ordered a brisket sandwich, pinto beans and potato salad. I had the brisket enchiladas and pinto beans. The brisket enchiladas were so delicious and the serving size was very generous, I had enough leftover for dinner.
The atmosphere was really welcoming, there were corn hole games and plenty of space for my three year old to run around and play.
The staff was very friendly and attentive.
We recommend this place and will return next time we’re in Brenham.

I’ve been searching all summer for good barbecue. And typically in the vicinity of a brewery.
Eureka!
Excellent choices of unique smoked brisket and smoked chicken sandwiches.
They’re jalapeno jelly is just magic! ♂️

We’re in town to visit the bluebell factory and stopped for dinner around 6:30. I chose this place based off the reviews and was super excited when we walked in. The place is cute and easy to get to. I picked a sundae flavored rootbeer to drink and ordered a pulled pork sandwich with fries. The food didn’t take long to come out but boy was I heartbroken when I bit into my sandwich. The meat was so dry and hard, easily the worst barbecue I’ve ever had. It was completely inedible. The fries were super soft and dripping with oil which was disappointing because the seasoning on them was great. Unfortunately my favorite part of the meal was the canned soda. Bluebell was great enough to plan another trip back to Brenham but I’d never eat at Pioneer again.

Awesome little BBQ and burger joint. First time trying them, but I loved my sandwich called Hot for Teacher. Pulled pork and chopped brisket mixed with peppers and jalapeño jelly. Comes with those cute little Mexican pinwheel snacks as a side, which I’d never had, and I loved them. Extremely reasonable prices, good food, employee was friendly too. I will be back.

The place is super cool and chill. There is so much seating and the people are very nice and accommodating. The food came out super fast, and it was very good. The brisket was a bit dry and did lack a little taste. But everything else was good.

Gotten take put there twice. Both times was less than satisfactory. Brisket was dry, tough, and flavorless. Chicken was very dry and overcooked. Pork was cold to the point that the grease was congealed. Sausage was fine. Forgot to include my my sides both times, so I can’t tell you how they are. Price was fine if the food quality and service was better. Won’t be back.

Horrible service and mediocre food!
We hate giving bad reviews on Google because so many of them are just silly things like not having ice in your cup, but our recent visit to Pioneer Smoke House was pretty awful.
We arrived at Pioneer’s at 6:00pm on a Saturday and the restaurant was only 1/3 full. We were so excited and sure we were gonna get great service.
You won’t believe it, but we had to wait 1 hour for an order of 2 barbecue sandwiches and a side. 1 hour?!?!?! We were absolutely starving by the time we got our sandwiches and they forgot to deliver our side. We were so tired and hungry by then we didn’t see the sense in complaining about an incomplete order and waiting another hour.
Both sandwiches were pretty bad. The brisket sandwich was 50% fat/gristle and uneatable (see the picture!). The pulled pork sandwich was flavorless and bland.
We both love coleslaw. We drive hours out of our way to just eat this delicious delicacy. From North Carolina to Kansas City to West Texas Hill country, we pride ourselves, knowing what a good cole slaw is.
Well.. we’ve never had such a flavorless and bland coleslaw. It had a weird lifeless tan color and not any flavor at all. Not even the cabbage itself had flavor. Definitely not my grandma’s slaw.
Everybody there looked tired and overworked and the food was nothing to write home about, especially when there’s wonderful barbecue a stones throw away in every direction. This is Texas! This is barbecue country.

Found this place as we were exploring and seemed to have a great vibe. However felt let down by the service from what seemed to be the owner of the establishment, he didn’t seemed welcoming – just wanted to know the order. I was looking forward to the food, ordered brisket and smoked chicken, but sadly disappointed as the brisket was SO dry, cold, and frankly wasn’t really brisket. The smoked chicken was the same, it was bone dry. Lacked flavour.
The vibe here was great, but sadly disappointed in the fact that there was no southern hospitality or quality of food

Great spot to sit outside and have a few drinks and maybe a snack. Native Texan here and it was my first time to try this spot out. Took a while to get our food, and with BBQ it should already be ready to go and not take long to serve. Everything was incredibly too salty and not tender. Very dry and not enough sauce on earth could balance out the dry and salty bbq. However, the ambiance is very nice and maybe if there were a next time, I’d go for a few drinks and maybe some french fries and save the appetite for somewhere else.
