This was a review find on Google and Yelp and we were NOT disappointed!! This is a HIDDEN GEM!! Been here for 40yrs. You might think that they could slack after that long….NOPE! This was the busiest place we ate breakfast all week. The server (Brandy) was helpful with the menu and explained all options even telling us how we could make the cream gravy sausage gravy is we wanted it. The corned beef hash was so flavorful, and the eggs were a perfect over medium just how my daughter asked for them. My eggs were perfect as well, and my hash browns were more crispy as I had asked. The buttermilk biscuits were HUGE and homemade and had a great fluffy light texture that almost fell apart but held up amazingly to the grandma’s cream gravy!!! I see why now the gravy does not have sausage……it does not need it!!! I asked for a bit more gravy since the order comes with two massive biscuits and she happily got me some more. This is a wonderful place that went directly to the top of our list for the week.

Friendly people and down home cooking delicious food! Most all plates are under $10 and portions are large enough for 2 people! Saw some some homemade biscuits the size of large coffee cups! Must get there before 2pm to enjoy breakfast or lunch!

If you like diners, this is everything – good food – like really good! And ridiculously cheap. The locals know it, visitors know it, and it seems to be everyone’s favorite. 4 seats at the counter, otherwise a couple of rooms of tables and booths. It was fast and good.

First of all, our waitress, Grandma, totally made the entire visit. Both of our kids hugged her before we left. Wonderful, kind, and attentive server. The food and portions were also very good. There wasn’t a wait at all. The ONLY complaint is the coffee. I was a first responder and a taxi driver. I firmly appreciate strong coffee. But this just tasted burnt.

Wow! Everything was great! I had the San Francisco omelette with grits and an English muffin with honey. My wife had the Pioneer Plate. Bacon and English muffin were crispy. Food was delicious and service was great too

When you think “Breakfast Diner”, this is the place that should always come to mind. The place was definitely full of happy customers/regulars when we arrived at 9am on a Friday. The waitress was fantastic and the place was the perfect patina of great, old school food. The biscuits and gravy were spot on. Biscuit scored a 10/10 being fluffy, tasty and light. The gravy got a 8/10. Brilliant for a Texas style gravy but not an old school version. I also went with the fried egg sandwich in a moment of weakness. That thing was exceptional. Really enjoyed it and bet it could hold its own for any breakfast sandwich.

10/10 recommend this place. My best friends and I traveled in from Corpus Christi for the weekend. We googled places to have breakfast and discovered Pioneer restaurant. It did not disappoint. They were busy but the wait wasn’t long. They are very efficient clearing off tables as to seat people promptly—we appreciated that. The food was absolutely delicious. We all cleaned off our plates! The breakfast sampler is definitely the way to go. You get a little of everything with this plate. Delicious!!

They do breakfast right! Taste great, good-sized portions. Reasonably priced. Gets really busy, tip order take out! I’ve been here about 10 times, and everything we’ve tried has been delicious, pancakes, chorizo and eggs, biscuits and gravy, etc.

This is a good old fashioned diner. I like it because it is not part of a chain. The service is different every time I am in there, but nothing that will kill me. Are the ingredients homemade? No, but the food is better than the chain restaurants and it does have a pleasant atmosphere. The cashiers aren’t real personable unless you are a regular, but they do the job. I am a repeat customer.
