The Pioneer Cafe in Glenfield is a true culinary gem with a warm local vibe and cooking that rivals top New York City spots. The omelettes alone are worth the drive from anywhere in the state. If you are coming from Canada, it is absolutely worth crossing the border for what may be the best homemade English muffins you will ever have.
Everything is done right. The English muffins are perfectly fluffy, never over salted or over buttered. The omelettes are filled with fresh vegetables that are cooked just right and balanced beautifully. Nothing feels heavy or rushed. It is simple food done at a very high level.
If you find yourself anywhere near Lewis County, make the trip. The Pioneer Cafe is easily one of the best diners in New York State and a place that deserves to be sought out.

Great little local diner! Plenty of parking and lots of room to sit inside. Menu has lots of options for lunch, we choose the hot turkey sandwich and the turkey wrap with fries. Our choice was great, the turkey sandwich was tender with plenty of turkey and gravy served with homemade mashed potatoes and a cup of cranberry sauce too. We will sure visit this place again when in area!

Great little local place with that hometown service. The food is great with that feeling of home cooking. The staff always treats you like family and you here them talking with all of the local customers. Great little stop. Wish they had some local pictures or decorations on the wall.

First stop on our drive around the mountains last weekend. Stopped here last August and loved it’s so much we brought friends back as well. Everything was on point during this visit including food and a great staff!! Everything is homemade and amazing! Try their French toast and English muffins! Oh my goodness! so delicious. They do have winter hours, so check their Facebook page!

I typically don’t give 5 star ratings, but this is a restaurant that deserves it. We stopped here while out snowmobiling and we haven’t had that great of service in a long time. I guess leaving our town of Syracuse and going to a small town diner is where it’s at! The ladies here were so nice and accommodated my son with a snowman pancake and the hot chocolate and coffees were really great! Paying was easy also, you scan the code and you can do it online!
