We wanted one final Cuban bakery visit before leaving for the airport, and we found Pinecrest Bakery.

The place is nice, the atmosphere is typical for Miami, which is to say a motley crowd, everyone into their own thing, brought together to enjoy some sweets, pastries or a hot Cuban coffee.
I haven’t eaten anything more than croquettes and pastries but will tell you one thing I appreciate is that the pastries are always flaky and soft, even when they’ve been out for a while, or when they overnight in your kitchen. Other shops should take notice of this, especially when you bite into a pastel and the flakes go everywhere and it’s so hard the plates of delicate bread hit together and slide around. It’s like chewing through leather in other places but not at Pinecrest Bakery.
Anyway, the croquettes are ok, but they must be eaten while got it still warm. Cold ones don’t chew well. They have two varieties, house and frozen. House are better in my opinion since they make them on premises.

The coffee is good, and has never been bitter, at any time that I have been to this location. Most times it’s perfectly done, so I don’t have to add additional sugar.
The place has all these cakes and sweets, as a baker and cook by hobby, I find their designs interesting and well done, but I haven’t ordered any. They have cakes, flan custard, little key lime pies, and other assorted items. Everything is clean and presented well.
They also have the typical chorizo pie, bocaditos (whipped ham and mayonnaise on a small potato bread), and those green and red cherry concoctions (confections) we all remember from the old days: cappuccinos and mini style brazo gitanos. They have Napoleons, senoritas and eclairs as well. Can’t rate them but they look good. Peeping at me, imploringly for me to purchase them and spike my blood sugar over the stratosphere. Yeah, not anymore.
Plenty of parking, lots of police and if you run out of tables inside, or prefer to smoke, they have outside tables.
All in all a nice place, good food, coffee and service. Remember to tip the employees, even in this town I see people do not, and at the end of the day, the workers do so diligently and have always been pleasant.
Stop by, have an experience. It’s worth repeating.

Stopped here unexpectedly to grab some breakfast for my son, very impressed at how quickly we were helped and food was served. Attendants were all very helpful, attentive and kind.
Location was perfect, to the right after getting off from the hwy and on my way to doctor’s appt at Baptist.

My Favorite Sunday Tradition!
Pinecrest Bakery is officially our family’s go-to spot for Sunday breakfast. Whether we are craving their Home-style breakfast platters or one of their incredible sandwiches–the “Pan con Tortilla” is a personal favorite–this place never misses. Their sandwiches are truly out of this world! Beyond breakfast, we are obsessed with their baked delicacies. You can’t go wrong with their Classic Cuban (flaky and fresh!), croquetas, empanadas, tequeños, and more. Their menu is surprisingly extensive, offering everything from full family dinners and party platters for any occasion to a staggering variety of desserts and cakes. Plus, the fact that they are open 24 hours makes it so convenient. I also love supporting a business that cares about the community. They do great work hosting fundraising activities for the “Bounce Back from Cancer” movement, which really sets them apart.
A Quick Note for the Kendall Location:
We frequent the location at 9710 SW Kendall Dr. It is a very popular, busy spot! While they have a “take a number” system with a display on the wall, the current process is a bit confusing because customers still have to stand in a physical line after taking a number.
Constructive Suggestion: It would be much more efficient if we could take a number, find a seat, and wait to be called. This would eliminate the need to “take a number AND stand in line,” making the experience much more comfortable for families.
The staff is generally very friendly, though there are a few attendants who can be a bit dismissive or act like they’d rather be elsewhere. However, Yuri is the absolute exception! She is incredible–she goes above and beyond to treat us with genuine care and respect. We always hope she’s the one taking care of us!
I definitely recommend Pinecrest Bakery for all your bakery and catering needs. Great food, great cause, and (usually) great service!

The group of girls at the Pinecrest location on 97th and Kendall make me feel right at home. They work real hard and with a smile. specially. Yusoli,Claudia and Dianelis. They truely are the engine for the success of that store. The food is great, but we’re in Miami and you can get croquettes and coffee just about anywhere. I’m a Miami residence since 1969 and I could tell you, that I saw the undefeated dolphin season, these girls will take you to the promise land. For me it’s99% success rate due to the girls , and one percent the delicious food. It is very good and fresh. I’ve also been there at 2 o’clock in the morning. Those girls are wonderful as well. Congratulations.. The product is obvious the hidden secret to the success in my humble list opinion are those wonderful human beings behind the desk.

Every time I come to Pinecrest Bakery, I honestly feel right at home. I’m always taken such good care of, and that’s a big reason I keep coming back. The girls in the front of house are especially amazing—they’re super friendly, welcoming, and always make sure I’m happy with my order. Even when it’s busy, they stay patient and positive, and they really make you feel like more than just another customer. The good vibes and kindness make each visit better, on top of the great food. Pinecrest Bakery never disappoints, and I always leave with a smile.
