Absolutely wonderful!! I am vegan and I was served a vegan version of every item that was on the regular menu. It was delicious. Pam’s vision for her menu is thoughtful and well executed. The staff and especially our server Evuh (no idea how to spell it, but phonetically the E is pronounced like the sound in tech) were lovely. Every employee was very sweet, respectful and just friendly, kind people. Pam came out about halfway through and spoke about her inspirations and infusing their garden vegetables in the menu. She was thankful and expressed her sentiments for all of us making it out in the crazy, but beautiful snowstorm. It was a great experience and I am grateful for getting to share a special day with my daughter. I am looking forward to returning, but maybe not in a snowstorm. This place is perfect for any kind of get together with friends, moms, daughters, a date, literally anyone. Your reservation is for two hours and the dishes are served in a timely manner. At the end, I found myself wondering where the time went. Again, absolutely wonderful!!

This establishment is exceptional. I took my mom here for her birthday today.
The food is precisely made. We did the fixed monthly menu (Asian themed for lack of a better description). You get classic finger food mixed in with the themed menu. The precision of the food construction, and pair with flavor profiles is a real treat. The broth of the soup was rich, the finger food was a mixture of textures and flavors (if you get in before the menu changes the wonton is excellent, as is the apple scone).
We did a pot of the monthly menu, as well as the Irish Misty Morning which I cannot recommend enough. We rnjoyed it so much we got loose leaf to take home.
The room itself is cozy, giving a nice cottage feeling.
The staff are lovely, our server (Im awful with names, George or Glen?) was a great guide for pur experience.
I will absolutely be coming back.

Very cute spot in downtown Downers Grove for afternoon tea. The 3 course meal has plenty of food, we were so full after! The gentlemen working was so kind. Though the service could have been a bit more attentive and tea could have been brewed longer. But overall excellent menu and accommodations for dietary restrictions. Would recommend checking out for a girls date!!

I have gone to seven weekend afternoon teas at the Pinecone Cottage. Every single time has been nothing short of wonderful! There is a huge variety of teas, the curated menus are different and unique each month with locally grown ingredients by Pam the owner. Each visit I have left full and often with leftovers to come home with. I also love that they decorate for each season and have special weekends for holidays.
The staff are some of the kindest I have met and truly make the experience what it is. I love that the owner takes a moment during each tea to highlight her inspiration based on her travels, she always praises her wonderful staff, and thanks the attendees for helping keep the tea house going. It helps keep the personal and small business touch.
I can’t wait for even more teas!

My daughters treated me to tea service at Pinecone Cottage as a Mother’s Day gift 5/31/25. It was extraordinary. The menu was beautifully curated and delicious. The endless pots of teas were interesting and delightful. The ambience was quaint. The service impeccable. We’re planning on making this an annual outing. Plus I’m looking forward to introducing this gem to my friends! I would encourage you to signup for their newsletter. It gives insight to the menu that changes often as well as a recipe!

i found pinecone cottage doing a simple google search on tea service catering for a baby sprinkle. i called them on a day they weren’t open and luckily someone was there to answer. the woman i spoke with took my order down and was such a huge help in helping me decide what to get. i wasn’t sure if they can provide the catering on such short notice but luckily they were able to! i walked into their business and immediately saw how all the tables were packed with patrons. i knew this was a positive sign. the food was packaged perfectly and tasted even more amazing. literally so happy with everything i ordered. it all tasted phenomenal especially the salmon mouse and the quiche!!!! i plan to go back for a sit down tea service soon.

We went for Mother’s Day tea and it was absolutely lovely. I am so happy we went with this small shop. Everyone in our party commented how homey the place feels and absolutely loved the decor and soft music. My mom, who has pretty bad anxiety with crowds, felt calm, happy, and at peace here. She especially loved the area as opposed to some fancy place in the city. The food was also wonderful. We tried so many new and interesting flavors we never thought would go together! We also totally thought we’d be served small portions and still be hungry afterwards but by the time desserts came, we were full! Totally want to keep this place a secret for ourselves but I highly recommend this gem.
