Wanted to give this place a try today. 1 hr free street parking. Order food and drinks at counter then find a table. Very small inside but also have covered outside tables. Waited maybe 10 min for food. My husband got the chicken fried steak plate. The steak was very small so the cook added a piece of chicken with it. I got the chatfield biscuit. Good flavors all around. Signs ask for you to bus your own table.

A wonderful breakfast joint. The biscuits are big; crisp on the outside & tender on the inside….and taste sooo good! This was the best biscuit I’ve eaten…better than home-made.
You got a choice of mushroom gravy or sausage gravy, I had the sausage. The best I’ve ever tasted. It was seasoned perfectly.

Wow let me start by saying I’ve been going here for years, because the biscuits have been amazing in the past. I went most recently on 1/3/2026 at 1:15pm and what a nightmare.

I’ll start with the worst: my chicken was undercooked and I didn’t notice until I ate half because it’s smothered in gravy (see photo).

Other issues:

It’s sincerely dirty in there. All you have to do is look around. One example is there are air ducts over the grills they cook on absolutely coated w dust and grime, there’s no way it’s not falling on the food. It really needs a deep clean.

Our order was wrong. I ask if they could add cheese to a sandwich, they charged me but they didn’t add it. My partner asked to sub the meat on his biscuit, they don’t do subs they said. That’s fine, they asked for extra gravy because last time there was like none on the biscuit. They charged him $3 for extra gravy making the total $20 for a biscuit. They forgot to give us the 3oz cup of $3 gravy so we had to go back for it.

For $20 a sandwich, there is much better food in Portland. Sad to see this place decline.

I cannot recommend the corn dog nor the sausage biscuit and gravy, the corn dog was not like any corn dog I have ever had – there was essentially no breading and the dog used had little bits of fat in it you could see and taste. The gravy… Well it tasted more like onion and spices than sausage and was slightly spicy, the biscuit wasn’t anything to write home about. The hash browns I got as a side and service at the front counter to order was good, that’s about it.

As a person who only loves her own biscuits and gravy I very much appreciate that I can get a really good version when I go to Portland. The biscuits were amazing. They were fluffy and buttery and perfect – everything a good biscuit should be. Look, the sausage gravy will never be what I want it to be but this one…this one is close. I love that it’s pepper forward and has a nice spice to it.
Service was fine – atmosphere was fine. I only gave it 4 stars because you have to bus your own tables and what not. But, I get it.

The biscuits are scrumptious as always. Wonderful atmosphere, nice staff, fun music, and a patio! It was pretty busy when we got there, but the line moved fast. We got both types of gravy and they were both great And the biscuit beignets are the perfect sweet treat: warm, crunchy exterior, soft interior.

They have a very creative, tasty menu. Great service. But…the prices are outright price gouging. I can only conclude that people rave about it because it’s like Starbucks, it’s a status symbol to waste money wantonly. I make biscuit sandwiches at home and I’ve cloned a number of theirs. They have great ideas. But let’s look at the price breakdown. I know a restaurant will be more expensive, but…15 times more expensive?
#1 Biscuits and sausage gravy: My cost-$00.50, Theirs-$10.00
#2 BBQ Biscuit: My cost-$00.89, Theirs-$12.00
#3 Reggue Deluxe: My cost-$1.15, Theirs-$19.00
So, a great menu, but, practically, for conspicuous consumers only! And BTW, my biscuits are better. I can not begin to imagine what they would charge if they cloned my chuckwagon biscuit, that uses bacon grease in place of shortening, and sourdough culture and 1/2 and 1/2 in place of water. Take a cooking class if you don’t have a clue. The cost will be less than a few visits to these price gouging, money grubbing, conspicuous consumer enabling, souless, mendacious Portland virtue signalers.

Man on man. Usually when you get volume you can be overwhelmed by the amount carbs that can be given to you. Note I was hungry after a 2 hour nap from my flight. I didn’t get sleep before. Could it have played the way I was hungry? Maybe. With that being said. Let’s start.

This spot was not the original place I wanted to eat because I was looking for something else, it’s not normal that I crave biscuits in the morning but since this is different from my normal morning time breakfast fiend, ill make the exception.

Hurry up and start talking the food! Alright alright:

The reggie deluxe: Fried chicken, bacon, and Tillamook cheddar topped with mushroom gravy and an egg. There was another choice but i went with the recommendation.

Absolute flames. First of all it’s a hearty sandwich this could be shared for two. I knocked out this monster right out the gate. Every time I kept taking a bite im like, wow i can keep going. They make their biscuits from scratch everyday so super super kudo points for that.

Blueberry Cornmeal Pancakes:
Big triple stack made from scratch with local blueberries and served with butter, lemon, and real maple syrup.

They serve you per pancake up on request, it my usual head two sounds good enough. These were nice size pancakes as well. The attention to detail with local ingredients just hits home. I can’t tell you enough about this place.

parking: pain in the butt as usual but I was lucky to find a spot early.

Yum yum YUM! Biscuits and gravy are one of my favorite foods and Pine State Biscuits goes above and beyond. The biscuits are fluffy and the gravy is rich. I’ve never had mushroom gravy and it’s a total game changer.

Come in and enjoy the hearty food, friendly atmosphere, and bottomless local coffee. Plenty of seating indoors and outdoors, with heating lamps above the outdoor dining.

They’re located right by a major railroad crossing so finding parking can be tricky if you’re not from the area as the sidestreet seems to get blocked by the train for long periods of time fairly regularly. This does make it a great place to people-watch though.

I got take away biscuits and I absolutely have to go back and sit down with the biscuits and gravy and some sweet tea. I’m from Appalachia and the biscuits and gravy hit like home.
