I come here about twice a month and i get the One Love Special with the jerk pork and jerk boneless chicken. Always a hit…but these past two times I’ve gone this month specifically have been reallyyyy bad. Their jerk pork is lacking soooo much flavor. It’s usually full of flavor and spice. None whatsoever, it’s so bland and no heat! Same goes for the jerk chicken; it’s so white.

And for the rice and beans, so much lack of flavor, and it’s not being cooked the way it was before. The rice seems to be cooked in a lot more water because it’s super wet and mushy; and again, no flavor. Just bland overall.

I use to recommend this place to friends and family but unfortunately I probably will stop coming here until they go back to the same way they cooked it before. Whoever was cooking it up in the kitchen last month, needs to come back. Whoever is in the kitchen now, please teach them to not be afraid with the seasoning and spice!! Sad to see one of my favorite Jamaican spots lose their touch. Will be looking for new places for now on.

Not to mention the lady that took our order in the restaurant didn’t give us our pork or plantain that normally comes with the meal. After coming home and realizing that it was only chicken I drove back and she apologized and gave us the side of jerk pork and a side of plantain. We asked for the MN Nice sauce and got a completely different sauce. An easy mistake and I live about 3 minutes away so no big deal, but I would hate to live far away and to find out later that my order was wrong and not what I paid for would definitely not make me come back here again.

Again, if you’re looking for something with flavor and spice with that Jamaican heat, go somewhere else. Who knows maybe I’ll update this, if I give them another chance.

The jerk chicken has great flavor! I’m disappointed in the “cabbage” it’s literally just cole slaw.. I have never been given cole slaw at any Jamaican restaurant. 7/10 overall. Moving from down south I really had high hopes.

We picked up an order for about 12 people for a work meeting and it was DELICIOUS! We did have a little bit of a wait when picking up but it was busy and you could tell they were carefully packing everything up. I got the One Love with boneless chicken and veggies. The plantains were perfect. This was the comfort meal I needed and I can’t wait to come back!

I don’t doubt the bad reviews, but fortunately I’ve had good experiences with their food at the Nicollet Ave location.

Good portion sizes, mine has always come pretty fresh, and I’ve loved the jerk chicken I’ve gotten. Maybe it depends on who makes it and who’s watching it during the day. ‍♂️ but I’ve loved the food both times my wife & I have gone.

I got the jerk chicken and it came with a good portion of rice, chicken, and a little coleslaw. I loved their coleslaw – its simple. I hate when it’s covered in sugary cream sauce, so I’m glad theirs is so simple and fresh.

Plantains were good and the barbecue sauce we got was fire.

Yes, jerk chicken is spicy. The hope is they don’t overdo the seasonings as some reviews say, but it does come spicy. Maybe more than you may think, but it’s good to me.

It does run a little expensive so be prepared for that, but we’ve eaten-in at lunch time and done take-out at dinner time. Both were good from the Nicollet location.

Glad we did not see the poor reviews. We had a great experience on during a weekday lunch. Split the One Love Special with boneless jerk chicken and jerk pork, along with a side of the coco bread. Ample portion to split between the two of us and I probably ate more than I should have, but just had to finish all I could. the Minnesota Nice Sauce was maybe a bit mild for my taste, but did not want to over do the heat since I was splitting. Good spice on the meat though.
Place was not very busy, but it appears from some of the reviews they must do a fair amount of takeout/delivery. Maybe that’s what accounted for what seemed like out of the ordinary service for a counter order restaurant. The gentleman at the counter was super friendly and gave us some good natured ribbing.
Maybe a bit rough around the edges, hence the 4-star for atmosphere. Not much of a place to come hang out and enjoy the vibe, but I like places like this and we missed the music/evening side of things which I am sure is quite different.
I’d come back in a heartbeat.

Where do I begin, and how can I say it all? Pimento makes every bite with overwhelming care and love, and it’s ALL SO GOOD. You can’t miss the jerk chicken, but I still dream about their plantains and curry chicken every night. Come see these folks, they do it right.

Pimento is a pillar of Eat Street and Minneapolis. The food is absolutely incredible every time (make sure you get the jerk ranch!) but the people are what really make this place special. Their business is a refuge for a community that’s been through so much and they radiate kindness and warmth in everything they do. Minnesota is lucky to have Pimento.

Ordered as a group meals with different options. Others don’t eat pork and others are vegan. Meals were all mixed up. Boxes were not properly labeled. I called them to see if we can do a video so they could identify what is what, the guy I spoke to hang up on me. In addition to that, other meals were missing like the coconut curry rice and beans and the wings a friend ordered. Maybe in person service is better but this is a horrible experience! The DoorDash person who delivered the meals was super nice

I rarely leave reviews but I’m so beyond disappointed. I’ve been craving ox-tails for a while. My brother had a really positive experience and recommended this place. After reading reviews and seeing a few pics I figured I’d give it a try. I was in a hurry so I did a pick-up order. When I opened the box and realized I paid $28 for bones I was livid. There was no meat. The pic I’ve attached is before I took a bite. Don’t waste your money or your time here.
