I was excited to try Pilar’s, as it’s billed as an authentic Argentinian-style empanada spot, and I’ve enjoyed excellent empanadas during travels in several Latin American countries and Miami. Unfortunately, this fell far short of my expectations. The empanadas are priced at $5 each, which feels extremely high given their small size and lackluster flavor. Traditional empanadas are often an affordable street food staple, but these were tiny, bland, and not particularly appealing. I’ve had far better (and larger) ones for much less elsewhere. The selection is also quite limited if you avoid cheese, spicy fillings, or anything with BBQ sauce—many options heavily feature those ingredients, leaving few alternatives. Overall, these were among the worst empanadas I’ve tried, especially at this price point. I won’t be returning.

We were at the farmers market today at Galleria and treated ourselves to these. OMG, the best empanadas we have ever eaten. I like that there is a stamp on the outside of the empanada so you know which one you have (and don’t confuse them). The caprese was outstanding and the one called the “amazing” (fig and brie) was absolutely amazing.
Had to look up the restaurant’s location and see it’s up in FTM, but we will certainly seek out this food truck. If I ever need to make a trip up to FTM, I will stop in here.

One of the best tasting empanadas I ever had. So many variations to choose from. And ask for the specials and the lunch combo. There are about six tables and the decor was open with the view of the kitchen. The gentleman that helped us was very helpful and courteous. On the menu features empanadas, desserts, and specialty drinks. Prices are very reasonable. Parking is limited and it’s along a busy street.

These are my favorite empanadas that I’ve ever had anywhere. While I’ve had Venezuelan, Columbian, and Cuban empanadas, this was my first taste of Argentinian.
Don’t miss the bacon plum or ham and cheese, they are incredible!! Everything I had was fantastic, I’ll be back often.

Went here for lunch and ending up getting the lunch special with 3 empanadas got the traditional, bbq chicken,bacon &plum and all of them were excellent these are by far the best empanadas I’ve ever had and the prices are amazing for quality food can’t wait to try the others and the peach Arrollado was amazing 5 star experience
