Finally came to check out the Pig Whistle Inn with friends after going to the Christmas market at the Fairgrounds today. We were told that it is very common that the ‘Pig’ was often out of a number of items at their bar / food menu, which in their experience included ice, beer varieties and food items…. but they had good wings. Boy did we have a good laugh when our server told us they had no draft beer or bourbon/whiskey or one of the special drinks, because of a party they had the night before – pulled pork either. What bar runs out of bourbon?? So we ordered 2 flavors of wings and 4 burgers, both of which were very good, but the tray they came on were ice cold and so were the buns. Our server was very pleasant and the atmosphere was comfortable. Giving three stars because of the history of not having items and delivering on that legacy. Can’t decide if we’ll go back.

Great local restaurant with good food. Small but cozy interior.. Their brisket is really good and have a good variety of wings selection with a lot of dry rub options. Would definitely recommend if you are in the area or living close by.

I’ve heard many great things about this restaurant so I decided to give it a try. Upon arriving 10 minutes before they opened, the two employees that were smoking outside of the kitchen instructed me to walk around back to get my temperature taken by the host. When the host saw me, he told me to sit anywhere I’d like, no temperature check. That’s odd. The host is now my server at this point. He asks me what I would like to drink and I asked for a beer list. They don’t have one. Not a big deal, but most places have beer lists now-a-days. He brings me my beer and their Oktoberfest menu. I will mention that the regular food menu items are not being served. I order the Beer Cheese Burger and the server asks how I would like it cooked. I tell him “medium.” I sit and wait for my food to arrive and only a few other families sat down.
After 15 minutes my food arrives in front of me and it looks delicious. The beer cheese was overflowing and their was a decent mound of caramelized onions on top. I take a bite to check the it and it’s well done. I put it down and wait until the server comes around. I show him that it is well done and says he will get a new one out right away. After another 15 minutes the food arrives and I am in shock. They gave me; what looks like, the same fries from the previous plate, only a splash of beer cheese, and a pinch of caramelized onions. I cannot believe it. I had to ask the server for a side of beer cheese to put on the burger myself. I take a bite and it is cooked perfectly. I just have an issue with the beer cheese. It’s not good. I mean, at all. It’s overly salty and lacks flavor. I ate it anyway as I was hungry, but I wouldn’t order it again.
The owner walked by delivering a dish to the table next to me and was not wearing a mask. This does not set a good example for the employees’ and the customers’ trust. He then then walked up to my table, asked how my meal was, and when I started to tell him what I thought he started walking away as I was talking to him. That was extremely rude of him and it left me stunned. I asked for the check, paid, and left with a sour taste in my mouth. The server did take off my beverage though, which was nice of him.

The experience here is great. Chef greg definitely went above and beyond in service. The wings are to die for very important to ask for them extra crispy. Also different flavors are good to request. Chef greg is very honest about the food when asked for his opinion. Drink are great. They have pwi’s signature drinks 2 of which I have only tried one with titos berry but looking forward to go back and try their bees signature drink. Great kids menu, nacho appetizers are amazing. Pulled pork is very tender and cooked to perfection, melts in your mouth. Server is very helpful and tries to accommodate as much as possible. Great staff, great team, and great food! A must go!

Having family in the Carolinas I’m pretty critical of bbq places especially if they put bbq sauce on it but I was delightfully surprised. Great atmosphere.

The food is awesome! Great BBQ! The signature drink was delicious! My husband burger had lots of bacon. The wings are literally the best wings I have ever had. The brisket was delicious! Also, the cheesecake tastes completely homemade! Loved everything! Our waitress Sarah was cheerful and awesome! I love the outside atmosphere! Great kids menu! My family was happy! I was definitely happy! I will definitely be back!

So 1 hour to get our appetizer. We counted the people sitting (23) no way it should’ve taken nearly that long. Safe estimate is at least half of those were seated before us. The waitress was really nice and apologetic. When we finally got the wings, our meal was literally 7 minutes behind the appetizer. Our burgers were over cooked. Probably sat in the window while we ate our wings. We got the dry rub wings, which were really good. Nice flavor. Despite the burgers coming out well done, the flavor was good. Mine had pulled pork and brisket on it. Would’ve given 5 stars but kitchen was in the weeds with 23 people, hate to be there if it were busy. Waitress got 22% tip, not her fault, kitchen should tip me for this review.

I’m a diner who really doesn’t care about service. That said, when I tried the Whistle Pig for the first time this summer, the service was so poor when I that I am not inclined to return.
They kept me waiting for my order for two hours, knowing that my very ill wife was waiting in the car. In the hostess’ defense, she was somewhat tipsy and probably forgot my order until I reminded her around the one hour mark.
Further, I paid $11 for three pretzel sticks with beer cheese, and the kitchen staff decided not to include the beer cheese. Thinking they made an honest mistake, I returned to request cheese, but they said they didn’t include it because they were all out. They were fully aware they sent me out the door with an incomplete order. The hostess made no offer of a refund or an alternative. To top it all off, I heard them deriding me on my way out as I passed the screen door to the kitchen: “who comes back for beer cheese?”
To the food: the mozzarella sticks we ordered were large and top notch. The brisket was fine, albeit a very small portion. Nothing about the food was so good that it makes up for the indifference of the staff, particularly when great local alternatives abound.

I was in the area and had had a need for BBQ. Did a Google search on maps and to my surprise found this place. It was in an area I would not think a restaurant would be. Residential. I took a drive over, parked and went down toward the backyard. I wanted sit outside and found the entire backyard was the restaurant. We ordered and enjoyed watching the orders coming out for other tables. It all looked so good. Our order came and enjoyed our selections. Everything was very tasty. There was a musician on a stage singing country music. Not really a fan but he was good. The prices was about what you would expect for BBQ. Went home with a smile on my face. I definitely will stop in again when I’m in the area.
