We live over three hours away, but when we come to the area, this is our go-to spot. It has the single best ice cream on the planet. Last night, I got the Hawaiian Split that has pecans, coconut, pineapple, bananas, and ice cream. There’s always a line, but it moves rather quickly. I have no idea how. I watched them prepare my sundae, and I saw one of the workers slicing bananas. They were literally making everything fresh to order. That’s impressive. They also use a sizeable portion of ingredients. They’ve never disappointed us. The only downside for us is that they’re on the opposite side of the state of Ohio.

Pulled in because the line was very short which was surprising, haven’t been there in over 35 years. The customer service was great very polite and quick. I tried the strawberry shortcake Sunday with cheesecake bites and strawberry crunch on top. Really couldn’t taste much sort cake they crumble it in the cup. Over all it was ok better than Golly Gee in Sandusky Ohio which uses a frozen freezer burnt cake cup. Should have gotten the French vanilla with crunch coat as I heard many other getting.

Pied Piper is not just a stop for ice cream. We had a full lunch and then a soft serve cone to top it off. They have burgers, nachos, hotdogs, pulled BBQ pork, french fries, onions rings, and more! And for dessert, sundaes, banana splits, flurries and all things soft serve! If you are traveling along SR 6 going through Huron, or even if you are looking for a place for some yummy food while traveling along Ohio Route 2, take a few minutes to stop in Huron and visit the Pied Piper. You will not be dissapointed!

Our group got cheeseburgers, hot dogs, fries, onion rings, and the special sandwich called the Tiger Melt. Everything was delicious!! We also got some shakes, ice cream with sprinkles, and a Reese’s pieces sundae (always amazing). There was a 6 person line when we showed up around lunch time on a warm day but it went pretty fast and we got our big order after a short wait. Definitely recommend this place for a meal and ice cream!

Might be the best ice cream spot around.
There’s so many ice cream options and all of them are great. They also have a good selection of savory foods and all of those are fantastic as well.
Even if there’s a line, they are fast and efficient and there’s never that long of a wait time.

We live in Michigan, 3.5 hrs away, but we never pass up a chance to stop at Pied Piper. The owners are wonderful, local people and the shredded chicken sandwiches are THE BEST. Also, the banana splits are magical. You can’t go wrong at Pied!

I visited a second time last night. So I’m not exactly a food snob but as I get older I notice changes in what we accept as quality. Big chains and corporate franchises are in this league of food that’s not very good but it’s what most people are exposed to so they just adapt and accept it. When you say, “this burger is good” at Applebee’s what you really mean is, “I live in a world where fine crafting is dying in an age of mass production and quantity over quality in the name of unchecked and unmitigated predatory capitalism and as a result of a lack of quality options, this is the best I could find and for the sake of not falling into a dystopian induced depression, I’ll just smile and pretend it’s alllllll positive…” I understand your frustration fellow traveler of the planet Earth. But there are bastions for people like you and me. Even here in Ohio. See I’m from South Jersey originally. My theory is that the further you get from New York City, the worse the food gets. I’ve had this struggle, since I moved here, particularly with pizza, subs, and Chinese food. You guys here just don’t know any better. That’s not your fault. I have struggled to find real food here for 10 years. Your best pizza here is on par with the most average pizza in New Jersey. Subs? Ironically Jersey Mike’s which isn’t even on par with good actual jersey subs, is better than your smaller places. You have a lot more variety here. But it’s a bit expensive for being so cheap and that’s mostly because this is a tourist trap… There just isn’t anything here that sticks out as finely crafted food. But then there’s this place… The Pied Piper. A modest classical looking little ice cream nook on the side of the road. I haven’t tried the ice cream yet… But let me tell you something. I had been craving a proper burger. Not some Applebee’s McDonald’s nonsense but an actual burger for a few years now. If you’ve seen the movie “The Menu” this is that burger that the main character talks about at the end of the movie. This is a burger joint that is on par with the best quality pizza and subs of new jersey and it should be protected at all costs. The tradition that this place maintains should live forever. I believe I was served by the owner last night. Extremely nice and polite service. Listen kiddos: A lot of Older folk really don’t have a clue about how hard it is to survive today, and we hear them complain about a lot of things that they just don’t understand sometimes… And that’s understandable because the world is changing faster than it ever has. But listen closely… When they talk about food and they tell you, “it just isn’t the same anymore”. This is what they’re talking about. This is the quality we’re losing day by day in the world. This place is the oasis, and one of the last bastions of simple, quality, hand crafted deliciousness and service with a smile. The workers here seem happy and polite, and confident and they should be. They have every right to be proud of the product they put out and the work that they do. They are simply the best I’ve had.

First visit: Had the Jam burger, pulled pork sandwich, and fries. Every single thing was simply the best. It’s been so long since I have had a proper good Burger and real pulled pork cooked to perfection! Try these guys, you don’t see places like this often anymore.

The Pied’ is the best, worth the line and a great price. Most other shops close earlier on Sunday night but the Pied’ gives you and extra hour and we took advantage!!! Amazing!!

They live up to their great reputation! We got there just in time to avoid the long line we’ve seen there every night we’ve been in the area.

My chocolate/vanilla twist was very good. My husband’s orange/vanilla swirl was better!
