I can’t believe that I didn’t visit sooner! I visited this restaurant as part of a Where’s Waldo search for local businesses, and I was hungry and nearby. There is adequate parking and some outdoor seating that was tidy. The freshly baked breads are displayed in the storefront. The display counters are neat and uncluttered. The interior has adequate seating and is simply decorated with local photos and flyers. There are local items available for sale.

I had glanced at the menu ahead of time since I needed a dairy-free meal. One of the employees cordially assisted me with my order; he patiently addressed my plethora of questions and concerns. Sadly, he informed me that all of the breads contain dairy; however, he offered to prepare the sandwich using lettuce as an alternate wrap. He also verified which chips were dairy-free and omitted the troublesome cookie.

My dairy-free lunch consisted of the Pork Tenderloin on whole lettuce leaves with pickled red onions and ample ancho mayo. I had a bag of Original Sun Chips as the side, and a bottle of water as the beverage. I dipped my chips in the remaining ancho mayo. My meal was a little messy but quite tasty. I plan to visit again!

Been going here for years, always good food. However today was quite different. Quiche was 2″ tasteless custard with some ham, spinach & cheese. Wasn’t asked if I wanted it heated. Got in car to eat, had to go back inside to get heated.
Chicken salad, usually husband’s fav, was tasteless as well. No sundried tomatoes, no seasoning.

this place is very very weird. I say this because of the following reasons:

1. i walk in the store, see all these old people (grandma grandpa) and they were staring at me as if I don’t belong here.

2. The ambience is a cafeteria for older people. and there is nothing wrong with it but the vibe was just so sad. Even the workers seemed like they don’t want to be there, working like robots. No greetings or anything… very strange.

3. the sandwich is basic af. i ordered shrimp salad sandwich and it came with shrimp celeries and lettuce. and it gets more weird because they gave me pickles wrapped in this plastic bag and one mint candy.. and they gave me one single napkin which wasn’t enough because when I opened the sandwich all the ingredients fell out.

4. As I was leaving, walking towards my car, this old man honks at me signaling me to leave asap so he can park his car there. im so shocked at this behavior like who does that?

overall i was expecting some cute aesthetic sandwich shop but left unwelcomed, never want to go back here again. maybe they should change their sign to old people only or something.

Nice Cafe! Bread was FRESH. I liked the shrimp salad sandwich. Also bought a pimento cheese but I didn’t really care for it.

Love the chicken salad and lemon New Yorker cookies… tried the banana chocolate scone today which was nasty. It was too sweet and tasted like a banana laffy taffy instead of a subtle banana bread-like treat.

This place has a certain charm that makes it feel almost smalltown-esque, even as it sits on busy Bissonnet.

Food wise, I’m a big fan of the pimento cheese sandwich here. My mom loves their salads. It was busy on a weekday for lunch, and it’s easy to see why it’s a place with so many regulars.

Great place to pick up a sandwich box before travel or a busy day.
