My husband and I had take out from here for the first time after hearing from multiple people this was the place to go. THEY DID NOT DISAPPOINT!!! The deep dish pizza is amazing and the fresh basil & mozzarella absolutely takes it to another level. The owner took my order and was in my top ten of kindest people I’ve ever met, the young man cooking was kind and held the door for me on the way out & the sweet lady working was a delight, they all were! The owner comes from Chicago where he had two pizza restaurants and you can tell! This pizza is next level. The atmosphere is amazing and you truly see this man and families personality shining through. I would take my mother, a visitor to town and soon my first born child here!

Fantastic all across the board! This place is so nostalgic and the owner made it such a special date for my husband and I. The pizza was hands down the best I’ve ever had. The pizza oven was in the open area where you could see the pizza being made by the fire. We got to help our pizza be made. We can’t wait to bring our motorcycle group there. We always pick a good ride with a food destination. They will love it! Absolutely go there…run don’t walk.

I’m so glad to have stopped by Piccolos today! Everyone was super friendly as soon as we walked in. The pizza was amazing!! I don’t think I’ll ever stop talking about how good their chicago deep dish pizza is!! It was so cheesy and had the biggest cheese pull I’ve ever seen! I really recommend stopping by and trying the best chicago style pizza around! I will be coming back to try their rest of their menu and to enjoy the great atmosphere here!

Hands down one of the best experiences I’ve had at a restaurant! Upon entering the building (which has a wonderful vintage design and atmosphere), we were greeted by the owner, whose energy and love for what he does was infectious!
The deep dish pizza we tried was phenomenal. Although I’m not a pizza connoisseur, eating at a place like Piccolo’s makes me want to become one.
We will definitely be back and can’t recommend this establishment enough.

Piccolos is truly the best Chicago Deep Dish pizza you will get in NC. We loved the family-run style of the restaurant, and found the owner to be highly attentive. The pizza is cooked to order, and to perfection! All the toppings we had were scrumptious. Bring a strong appetite because you will leave feeling both happy and very full!

Went on the first Saturday of 2026 and ordered a 14-in Chicago deep dish with pepperoni along with a 10-in cheese bread.
First off, love the atmosphere even though I got takeout. The left side is pretty much the checkout counter with the workspace where you can see all the employees hard at work, and the right side is a super-eclectic seating area with tributes to Chicago from top to bottom. It was very cool and almost felt like being lost in an antique shop or museum while I waited.
The wait was a bit challenging, admittedly. They only had two people working when I went in just after 3:00 p.m. on a Saturday, so it’s understandable with the fact that they were short-staffed that things would take a little longer. I will say the two people working were absolutely completely in sync in the kitchen and doing the best they could, and getting stuff out with a speed and an efficiency that seemed reasonable.
Now the good part. The cheese bread was tasty but nothing to write home about. Let’s get to the deep dish pie. Hands down one of the best pies I’ve ever had in my entire life. It was my first time trying that style, and I will never ever go back to anything else if I have any choice in the matter. Perfect layering, perfect bake, incredible ingredients that phase in and out of every bite, just phenomenal and an almost indescribable experience.
Long story short, it was worth whatever perceived wait I had, and I will go back each and every time to pursue this experience again. Run, don’t walk, and order the deep dish as soon as possible.

This is the BEST deep dish Chicago style pizza outside of Chicago. It’s better than some of those in Chicago! The owner is so nice and friendly! He makes you feel at home. Great place for people with kids, plenty of games and coloring to keep them entertained! This is truly one of a kind!

This was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The atmosphere feels warm and authentic, like being welcomed into an Italian home rather than a restaurant. The owner is Italian, originally from Chicago, and his hospitality sets the tone immediately. Genuine, attentive, and inviting. The pizza somehow manages to be even better than the atmosphere, which is saying a lot. Outstanding quality, flavor, and execution.
If you are coming through the mountains, especially after a day of snow tubing, this place is a must stop on the way home. I would highly recommend making it a tradition. An easy five stars and a place we will absolutely return to.

Amazing pizza, fun restaurant!! We stopped by Piccolo’s after an afternoon of 4 wheeling Brown mtn. We ordered several pizzas- all came out delicious with lots of flavor. The pizzas are cooked in a real fire pizza oven– be patient, it takes a bit longer to cook– but oooooh so worth the wait!! The owners are friendly, we loved hearing their story of opening a restaurant. If we ever come thru Lenoir again, we will definitely stop in.
