What an incredible spot on the island! We ordered 12 pies for a birthday party down the street. The owner personally helped me carry them on a 5 min walk, which I insisted he didn’t have to. We talked about how he started the restaurant and that it is a family affair that he and his brother put a lot of their time and energy into. I appreciated his genuine kindness and positive energy.
Most importantly, THE PIZZA WAS DELICIOUS. The parents and children alike loved the pies and everyone had seconds. The birthday boy had a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles theme, so of course, great pizza was essential.

First time on Roosevelt Island. While Queens and Manhattan are close, a good local slice is a must, and Piccolo delivers.
I’m a vegan (pictured), but the wife had a regular slice and was impressed, as was I. My slice was fresh out of the oven (vegan individual slices not available). But it had the chew/crunch/fold of a reheated slice, which was impressive.
Vegan cheese solid, they use the Trader Joe’s cashew which I use at home. Good melt and flavor (a regular started bringing it in himself and then they started stocking it).
If I lived here, they would know me by name.
No frills but clean seating and clean bathroom.
Would 100% recommend.

Not going to lie, i have been eating here since its very 1st day in ’09 and the restaurant is now a sham. I just ordered 12 wings which should be about 15 and some change and they charged my tip already included when i was paying cash and over charged what i was initially paying. I feel unsatisfied with the redundant charges deducted in my order and will no longer be brimging any business to this establishment that doesnt make myself someone of color feel comfortable and welcomed

My research of places to eat in the area ahead of time led me to be very eager to try Piccolo Trattoria. It looked super cute and YUM. Huge portions, I ate every single bite and still have no regrets about that. I ordered the Gnocci with bolognese sauce, side Caesar and (duh) wine. Everything was everything and if this place was in my neighborhood, I would be there every week. Lizzie was my waitress and she was the sweetest. I love how nice she was about my enthusiasm for it all. 😉

Don’t take orders if you can’t keep up. Specially on a busy day. To have someone wait beyond 30 minutes for an order and have a bunch of people coming in and out all because you can’t keep track of orders is simply not okay. I watched as my chicken roll was made 20 minutes after I order and then I still had to wait. That is simply unacceptable. Figure out a better system for busy days.

Amazingly fresh food. Great service and very short wait time. Took the exact same order as the youtuber “Daym Drops”, which is what actually got me to try out this location. The meatlovers pizza with added meatballs and no ham was amazing so was the margherita with fresh basil and added mushrooms and the fried shrimp with marinara sauce was a great appetizer. The pizza crust is amazing and is crispy. The fried shrimp is a delicious snack with a good bite to them. Definitely not disappointed!!

This place is a little ways from the tramway by walk and very conveniently placed. My friends and I took a walk here and it did not disappoint on the Italian aesthetic and the feel of being in an Italian pizzeria in Europe, not New York (when you’re on Roosevelt Island, it feels like a different world anyway.
I enjoyed the pizza. The flavor was very authentic, the presentation was divine and it was very hot to my liking. The crust of the pizza is also very divine – not dry like some of the bigger pizza corps who shall not be named here. Piccolo was an excellent find. My friends also enjoyed the ambience and the food.
I recommend here for a quick day trip out in the city solo or with friends.
