At the heart and soul of every authentic Italian dish, is the spirit of family. At Piccolo Trattoria, we embrace that spirit with our mission WE ENHANCE LIFE. This begins with you, our faithful customer, and carries through as a motto we extend.
In Italian, Piccolo Trattoria is more than just our name. It means “Small, family-owned restaurant.” It is in this spirit that we have strived to build a close personal relationship between our guests and our staff. While here, you are a member of our family.
All family owned and operated, Piccolo Trattoria offers the perfect balance between a quick-serve pizzeria and a sit down casual/fine dining experience. Our flagship restaurant is our Newtown location, which opened in 2001.
Italian BYOB restaurant serving a lengthy menu of filling fare in a basic setting.
We have several choices for our guests, from takeout to in-house dining, and a full catering staff at your disposal. Take a look at the various menu options …
I came on a Monday at 4pm so naturally, the restaurant wasn’t busy. Staff were friendly and attentive and food arrived quickly. The pasta is delicious, well cooked and hearty portions. The salad was fresh and I like how pasta entrees come with side salads as default. The prices here are very good and overall, this is a great place that serves great quality food with good prices. I would recommended coming here, especially since there is a wide selection.
We made some reservations for 8:30pm last Tuesday 6/26 – I had family visiting from Portugal and I wanted to take them to a nice place with outside seating. This seemed to be perfect. Our waiter was nice and did a great job handling all 10 of us. Unfortunately the other staff were not as pleasant. To be honest a bit rude. We ordered our food and it came out. It was very tasty I do have to say I enjoyed the pasta. Awesome taste and texture to it. Nevertheless we ordered more bread the gentlemen who was working the table was not happy. He actually was a bit angry we ordered more bread. Then we tried to order more water but that was a bit hard to do. If felt like were being ignored – I would understand if the place was packed but there were only tow tables with people – our table and another one. We tried to be positive and kept thinking they were having a bad night. We had dessert and was being forced out – how could I tell because the gentlemen told us in angry voice they close at 10. The bill came unfortunately the waiter didn’t separate it so we had to do it. Well that got the staff even angrier that we were doing that. In matter of fact they turned off the lights and left us out there in the dark. Can you believe that? We hurried up to do the best we can and just paid the bill. Very unfortunate we were treated that way. If we knew they closed at 10 we would have done an earlier reservation in matter of fact they should have said something we we made the reservation. But to be left out there in the dark and not be treated the way a paying customer should be treated is uncalled for. I really don’t know if I will ever go back.
Thank you for best bbq and Brooklyn pizza! I come here to visit my wife’s family a couple times a year and this place is one of the highlights
Delicious lunch, good service and a nice patio with umbrella tables for a late morning lunch. Would definitely go back and try other great looking menu items

Met my family met there for dinner. We had three appetizers (calamari, antipasto and stuffed flowers), two pizzas for dinner and one dessert and beverages for four. We ate outside on the outdoor patio.
We were out of towners from Utah and was told to go to this place to eat. I am sure glad we did. This place has such amazing food down to the dinner salad. Every time we go to new Jersey we now have to go here. Food is good the waiters are awesome, atmosphere is great. Just a good place to eat.
We booked a small reception here (less than 20 people). Booking with Amali was simple and she was easy to talk to! Our families were impressed with the food and staff! We cannot thank them enough for making our family day stress free and memorable!
They catered our son’s graduation party and the food was wonderful. Everyone loved it and commented about how they enjoyed it. And Piccolo makes the best gnocchi in the world! I highly recommend it!
Fantastic place!! The servers ( esp. Diego) and the manager Joe made us feel like family. Came here for dinner to check out the place prior to booking a lunch party. Food was fresh and well prepared, the ambiance relaxed but elegant. We hosted a family party for 30 in their private room. It’s BYOB – they took great care of our Prosecco , wine and beer. We were able to relax and let them take care of everyone. Came back for lunch. Highly recommend this place for a relaxed lunch, dinner and for a private party. And don’t forget the mini cannolis – some of the best we ever had!!
I work near their Pennington restaurant and for years I would order trays for my staff holiday parties, have business lunches, retirement luncheons etc. Most recently, I had contacted them to ask them to help my team sponsor a luncheon for the 90 kids attending Camp Mercer. When the originally quoted price was higher than what we collected and planned on spending, Amali worked with us because she immediately recognized what a good cause it was. She worked with us to get a beautiful, hearty and delicious lunch together for these kids to enjoy and I cannot thank them enough for their kind and generous support. Some of these kids get one meal a day, and it is from this camp. The kids ate very well. We have the pictures from the camp showing the kids with full plates and fuller smiles.
