This is the best little Mexican place I’ve EVER been in, and I’ve seen a few*.
First, let me say the salsa is truly, no hyperbole, the best I’ve ever had. Just the right spice, complex, and satisfying.
Next, three important words: Breakfast. All. Day. I had steak and eggs, and some corn tortillas. Set me up for the rest of the day, and I kept thinking back about how good it was. It’s not often I do that, especially when busy on the road.
A great family run place with comfortable and welcoming atmosphere, but they do a good takeout business as well.
The prices are so reasonable I had to check twice!
*I have a specific food allergy that sends me to Mexican restaurants almost exclusively, so I’m always at places like this, especially when traveling for work. I don’t get to Lubbock often, unfortueately, but Picante’s is on my list when do.

Once the waitress brought out our meals, she completely left us alone. No refills, no follow up. I ordered the unlimited menudo and was only brought the one bowl. Then tried charging for unlimited. No extra napkins, no onions, oregano, lemons or anything. Very disappointed. Menudo did have good flavor, but service needs improvement.

Such a good spot to eat! Food was delicious and authentic! The owner was super sweet and the waitress was very good at her job. Definitely will be back next time we are in Lubbock. 5 stars all around!

My waitress always made sure I had fresh tortillas, that my drink was always topped off, and finally, that I had plenty of chips and salsa. She was great!
The food came out rapidly. I waited around 4 minutes for the food to come out hot and freshly made.
If you’re in the mood for an awesome Mexican breakfast, this is the spot to go. You won’t be disappointed.

First time at Picantes in a long time. Had the beef enchiladas lunch with rice and beans; chips and queso with taco meat. Everything tasted great and was well prepared! Will come back again.

The food here is amazing and amazingly cheap. They have breakfast available all day and if you want dinner for breakfast you can do that also. No alcohol served here. Waitress was nice but seemed to get lost in the kitchen. They do a lot of morning take out service so maybe that’s where she was. Overall a very pleasant experience.

If you’ve never been here, shame on you! This has been a go-to for many years. First off, their burritos are amazing and huge. Call in and pick it up, and you’re good for half the day! The service is always top-notch, and the authentic food is not to be beat. We love coming here for the value and knowing that we are always going to leave satisfied and super full!
