The Phoenix Wok and Grill is the newest incarnation of what was called the Shangri-la. The menu is markedly smaller in size as is the location of the new restaurant. I’ve eaten in the restaurant several times and have ordered for delivery many times. It’s always a crap shoot whether the food will be tolerable or horrible. The food doesn’t begin to compare with really good Chinese food I’ve had elsewhere. But, this is Grand Forks, North Dakota and really good food is rare indeed. I’ve just endured yet another order of greasy sweet and sour fried shrimp and cold chicken & pork fried rice. I’m thinking it will be a long while if I ever order from them again. Restaurant food should be of the same consistent quality every time. If I have to guess, I’ll err on the safe side and just not eat the stuff.

I’ve been a customer of the Shangrila (now Phoenix Wok) for 25+ years and I’m hooked. It was my first Chinese food and serves as my main Chinese food hookup to this day. Order the chow fan, chicken soo guy, egg foo yung or the guy ding (off menu special order).
