Pho Van Restaurant is one of my go-to spots for authentic Vietnamese food in Portland. The pho is flavorful, comforting, and always hits the spot—rich broth, generous portions, and fresh herbs that make every bowl satisfying. Their menu has a great variety, from classic pho and vermicelli bowls to stir-fried dishes, so there’s something for everyone.
The service is friendly and efficient, and the atmosphere is casual and welcoming, perfect for both quick meals and relaxed sit-down dining. Prices are reasonable for the quality and portion sizes you get.
If you’re craving a solid bowl of pho or dependable Vietnamese comfort food, Pho Van is definitely worth a visit.
Note that if you want to try the grilled fish, call to place your order in advance because it takes an hour to grill this dish.

It’s been ages since I’ve been back to this location. This location has plenty of parking and the interior is spacious and very inviting. I liked that there were plants well positioned and natural light as well. I ordered the #1 (without tripe) and an iced vietnamese coffee. The coffee was pretty strong, but it gave me the boost I needed for the day. The pho was good (slightly salty for my preference), but also food is job of filling me up most of the day.

I love this restaurant!! The first thing I noticed was the tranquil music that set the relaxing, peaceful vibe, which was exactly what I needed. The lighting is soft and pleasant. The menu is extensive but not excessive (like some Asian restaurants). I ordered the lemongrass chicken with rice and fish sauce. It is so fragrant and scrumptious with quite generous portions of chicken and rice. My mother ordered the ginger chicken with rice and green beans. She did not receive the same generous portion, and my mother thought it was overkill on the ginger and garlic. I don’t like ginger so I didn’t sample it. She sampled mine and wished she had ordered the same as I did. For me, the only problem was they forgot my avocado shake, and it was difficult to get the attention of someone to request it. When I did receive it, it was like drinking heaven – creamy, smooth, so tasty!!

I visited Pho Van in Portland recently, and my experience was somewhere in the middle. The restaurant looks clean and comfortable, with warm lighting and simple decoration. When I walked in, the staff greeted me, but the service felt a little rushed. I understand they were busy, but sometimes I felt they wanted me to finish quickly. I ordered the beef pho and fresh spring rolls. The spring rolls were pretty good, fresh vegetables and nicely wrapped. The peanut sauce tasted rich, and I enjoyed that. The pho broth had a nice aroma at first, but after a few bites, I felt the flavor was not as deep as I expected. The beef slices were tender, but the noodles were a bit too soft for my liking. The price felt a little high compared to other pho places I have tried in the city. I understand the location and atmosphere are nicer, but I hoped the taste would match the cost more closely. Overall, Pho Van is not a bad place. It is clean, the food is okay, and the staff works hard. But for me, it is not something very special. I would come again only if I am nearby and want something simple

The pho here is delicious and comes in a generous portion. They load it with plenty of tender meat, and the greens are fresh, crisp, and vibrant. The price feels well worth it for both the quality and quantity. The atmosphere adds to the experience too—lush tropical greenery surrounds the space, creating a relaxing, refreshing vibe.

They are too busy, there’s almost no service at all. Wue Pho soup was cold that the meat was very raw until the end. I hoped it could be better general for all.

Oh MAN! Pho Van is absolutely amazing! I’ve lived 2 blocks a from this restaurant for 11 years and I’ve never been until today. DO NOT let the dreaded 82nd Avenue vibe deter you from visiting this place. Pho Van is a top notch Vietnamese restaurant with stellar food, fast service and beautiful decor. The place is very well maintained and rivals some of the top Vietnamese restaurants in my old neighborhood in San Francisco. This is a MUST if you’re looking for excellent Pho, delicious vermicelli and some of the best fresh spring rolls I’ve ever had! DELICIOUS!!

This is genuinely one of the best restaurants that portland has to offer. The atmosphere is amazing with their giant live plants all throughout the dining area, it is always so lovely to spend time here. The food is so very delicious and (I may be mistaken) is more authentic (less driven by an american palate) than you will likely see else where. Lastly the service is consistent and has always been quite capable and prompt every time I’ve visited.

The bathroom had a really airy feel and a nice scent. Clean with a nice atmosphere. The decor, pictured, is intentional. The toilet paper was reasonable quality but the toilet struggled a bit with it’s delivery. The floor was a bit sticky. Would recommend.

Beautiful restaurant with a vast selection of fresh Vietnamese food offerings. Our service was excellent and the prices ($$$) were reasonable for the food served. It was a lovely surprise on 82nd!
