Unfortunately, Pho Thanh Huong Vietnamese restaurant in the University Plaza/Vons shopping center, isn’t worth the effort or the price.
Our meals were overpriced, $17.99 for a bowl of Pho Bo — noodles and meat in broth. Reasonably tasty but nothing special.

The staff seemed to have been completely untrained, unmotivated and unsupervised. Basics such as a hospitable welcome or even placing the entree in front of the guest are tasks unknown to staff. I ordered a tofu dish, only for the waitress to return to say the kitchen was out of tofu (although a Vons supermarket is about 50 yards away.)

When we visited on a Tuesday evening, the restaurant was nearly empty, although dirty dishes from departed customers covered no less than six tables, testament to lazy staff who couldn’t be bothered to clear the tables despite the dearth of customers.

All in all, the food was OK, though overpriced. The poor service and lack of any ambience make it worth passing on.

Pho Thanh Huong is the best! Their beef pho is rich, flavorful, and comforting—exactly what you want in a perfect bowl of pho. The grilled pork sandwich is delicious, packed with smoky flavor and freshness in every bite and their buy one get one free Thai tea or coffee special is the cherry on top. Great food, great value, and friendly service, definitely a spot worth coming back to

Friendly service and clean restaurant. I stopped for a quick lunch before flying home and I would stop here when in town again. The sandwich was made with fresh, warm fluffy yet crunchy bread.

Having tried dozens of Banh Mi around the country, this is one of the BEST I’ve had. Grilled pork, tender and flavorful. Great fresh toppings and sauce. The BREAD baked fresh, warm and flaky. Absolute perfection!!!

To top it off, spacious seating and very friendly staff. They’re also open through dinner, unlike many others around town I noticed closing around 4-5pm.

We absolutely loved our experience at Pho Thanh Huong! The food was sooo delicious, we finished every single dish! Everything tasted fresh, flavorful, and comforting. The lady (I think her name is Geeh, possibly the owner) was incredibly sweet, always smiling, and so polite. Her warm hospitality made the meal even better.

We don’t even mind driving all the way from Aliante just to eat here…the food and service are totally worth it! Definitely one of our new favorite spots!

I would have straight up given this spot 5 stars if the price of their pho was in the realm of reality. Luckily, I have another pho place and I was here fo the Banh Mi, which was excellent. Since I mentioned the pho, I’ll start with it and then get on to the stuff I’ll be back for. It was actually not bad at all. Probably better than average for the city but I’m from Seattle and have been eating this stuff for 20 years, When I left in 2019, I could get a half gallon of Pho Thai for $6.75. I took that all for granted because it took me over 5 years to find consistently good pho in LV and the prices are all closer to $15 for a smaller bowl than I used to pay $6.75 for. I understand that the economy is different now but my sister in law was complaining 16 years ago that it was closer to $12 in London where she was attending school & that was crazy high. To pay nearly $19 for a bowl half the size of my favorite spot back in Seattle isn’t going to work for me. Additionally, in my 20+ years of pho consumption, this was the first place that put the sprouts and basil in the bowl for me rather than allowing me to adjust my flavor to my liking. Please take this as constructive feedback. The most costly part of producing pho is the time it takes. The amount of meat and noodles in mine was fair but it is still mostly broth made from boiling stuff in water.

Now for the good stuff. The Banh Mi was fantastic and has been on my mind ever since. First, the Seattle price comparison. They were $8+ which is more than the $5-$6 we were used top paying in the Emerald City but that’s more in line with inflation and the economy. The French bun was excellent and the mix of grilled meat and pickled veggies was perfect. I’ve had it on my mind every since. The downside is that I like to get a sandwich and a bowl of pho and French dip my sandwich in the broth. Maybe I can persuade them to sell me a small cup of broth on my next visit. There will definitely be a next visit though. This was on point!

Stopped in as I was running around and needed a quick to-go sandwich.
The pork sandwich was fabulous. I normally do not like bahn mi as there is too much bread, but this was light, fluffy and toasty and did not overwhelm the pork.
Not the cheapest, but very well done. Will be back when I have the time and $.
