This was a very nice experience! It’s a small house in the west end area of Richmond, not far off of West Broad. I read about it on a Northern VA Foodie Facebook group and just happened to be staying in the area the next day, so I stopped in with a coworker who really loves Pho too. It’s a small house in a neighborhood filled with similar sized houses, but it was easy to find, as it was the only ‘house’ on the street with a large parking lot, which was packed!

I walked in and the inside was packed too, and that was around 1PM. But I was immediately greeted and he said he’d clean a table for us. We sat down and checked the menu and I was happy to see such a huge variety of so many Vietnamese delights, not just lots of Pho, but different styles of entrées and appetizers too.

I tried their Phở Tái (thinly sliced, rare, beef eye round) and my coworker got Phở Ga (chicken Pho). We also started with their pork crispy spring roll and their summer roll. Both rolls were really tasty and made with fresh ingredients. The Pho we ordered was beautifully served and tasted great! The richness and depth of flavor in the Phở Tái was so nice. The accoutrement that came with the Pho was extremely fresh.

Overall, this was a very nice experience. Food quality and flavor were spot on. Service was Very Friendly and Great! Just bring ca$h, because that’s the only way you can pay there. But go, give ‘em a try!

The Black man greeting people is with it. He is friendly, fast and hospitable. Seriously great service.

Secondly the pho (beef broth with tofu) was so darn good! ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
No compliant about it at all.

The rice paper spring rolls can be worked on meaning: it only comes with the tofu and noodles, it would be nice if there were some fresh veggies (carrots, cabbage, mint, tofu, cucumbers and noodles with a dash of salt) – bam

Other than that we really were happy with the service and pho.

Side note: there may be a wait. So be prepared.

Absolutely fantastic pho spot. The broth is full-bodied, rich, and clearly well made, deeply flavorful and truly authentic. You can tell a lot of care goes into every bowl. The prices are amazing for the quality you get, making it an easy go-to.

It’s a small restaurant and can get busy on weekends, but don’t let that deter you. the service is quick and efficient, so you’re in and out without feeling rushed. Definitely worth the wait and one of the best pho places around.

I spent a lot of time in Vietnam and I ate a lot of pho! The prices are so fair. The broth both the chicken and the beef are very flavorful and they have several different sizes. You can choose from. Also, if you’re doing Takeaway, they do let you choose sizes where a lot of places do not let you choose the size the place is a little hidden it’s behind full kee in a little house there is street parking because a lot is very small when I left on a Saturday at noon when a blizzard was coming in it was very crowded and people were waiting for tables. They only take cash. The one bad thing I will say is I found the egg roll a little greasy.

Cash only — small / limited seating — limited parking — WORTH it! — tons of vegan/vegetarian options.

This is the absolute best Vietnamese food in richmond and surrounding counties. My partner and I come at least once a month and are always treated like family. I have been coming to this restaurant for over 15 years and the food has always been reliable, delicious every single time. The portions are generous, the prices are fair, and the service is always friendly. The paintings by the current owners father that line every inch of the walls of the restaurant, add a unique atmosphere and make the experience of eating here even more special. I notice something new in his paintings every time. Thank you to the family that has kept this place what it is. I would be miserable if it weren’t for Pho Tay Do, because Vietnamese food is my favorite cuisine in the whole wide world.

Highly recommend: spicy pho, vermicelli with grilled pork, papaya salad with dried beef, young coconut water, ca fe sua da vegan (Vietnamese style iced coffee with coconut milk instead of condensed milk).

The customer service i received today was terrible. I came here with my family bc my mom was raving about how good the food was. Once we were sat, the black man let us know all of what they were out which was understandable they’re a small business and they’ll be closed the next few days for Christmas. I ordered what I usually order at a Vietnamese restaurant which was the Cơm Chiên Tôm which is a fried rice dish and I was very excited. Once I received it I thought it looked different than what I’ve had at other restaurants but I tried it to see how it tastes and it tasted like plain white rice with a few little shrimp and a pan fried egg chopped up. I added sriracha to try to add some flavor but it was still bland. When I let him know politely that I wasn’t expecting it to taste and look like that. He asked me if it wasn’t salty enough to my liking which is not what I was insinuating. He let me know very loud and obnoxiously that that’s how they make it and that it wasn’t made wrong so he couldn’t do anything. So I asked if I could get something else in which he again said rudely you’d have to pay for it which I was fine doing… so I said yeah and he was like what do you want in which by that point I was pissed off and lost my appetite and didn’t even want to eat any of their other food. I work customer service and think there is a way to talk to customers especially if they aren’t even trying to cause a huge issue about it. If anything he was loud that other customers were looking at me. This was 12 dollars btw…

The Cha gio is quite depression, looks like from frozen package. Not much pork in it tbh.

Pho was ok, a bit sweet on the soup.

I came in with high expectations after seeing all the positive Google reviews, but I left extremely disappointed. The pho was honestly one of the worst I’ve ever had.

The broth was completely bland…..none of the depth or aroma you get from properly roasted spices, onions, ginger, or long simmering. It was almost flavorless. The presentation didn’t help either. Instead of a nicely arranged bowl with a nest of noodles, fresh basil, thinly sliced onions, and pink, tender meat along the sides, everything was just sunken to the bottom of an oversized bowl. There were no sliced onions at all, just a few stray green onions floating around and it didn’t even come with any basil, which is probably the only thing that could have added any additional flavor to the dish.

The side plate came with jalapeños and bean sprouts, but the broth wasn’t nearly hot enough to soften them, so they might as well have been eaten raw. The chili oil had no kick, and even the brand-name siracha on the table tasted flat, like it was either a bad batch or being swapped out for something else.

The only positive thing I can say is that the server was friendly. Beyond that, I have no idea how this place has a 4.7 rating. I will not be returning.
