All the food tasted really good. I did feel that for a large size noodle soup, it could be slightly bigger. Same thing for the drinks, the size could be bigger. Its like in a small-medium sized cup. My mom felt that there could be more lemongrass flavor in the grilled chicken and pork. One thing thats super different is that they offer a soft serve ice cream if you order an entree which is a nice way to end the meal.
The staff here is super nice and fast. The parking is pretty packed so it might take some time to find parking. My mom also ordered a banh mi for take out. The whole meal came out to be around $93. If you pay in cash, you get 5% off.
They even have lunch menu now with a free drink, but let me tell you, images are always for reference only the image for the free drink looked really nice, but the actual outcome? A picture is worth a 1000 words, the drink is supposed to be butterfly pea soda, but it’s just purple coloured syrup in an extremely tiny plastic cup full of ice. And the price of the lunch menu is not any cheaper than ordering the same dish separately without the cup of ice, so unless the dishes offered are indeed the ones you like and enjoy, there’s not enough motivation for me to order them anymore.
Pho Dac Biet has an extensive menu that offers the best in Vietnamese cuisine.
Portions are generous and priced well.
We look forward to eating our way through the menu.
We were served raw chicken as seen in pictures. I’m used to pink chicken as I’m from HK but from the pictures you can see it is completely raw. When I sent it back, the dish returned with fewer pieces and they were extremely overcooked. We speculate it’s just reheated hence the texture.
To make things worse, the menu stated the S4 BBH came with beef rib, yet none was included. When I mentioned this, the staff didn’t apologize, didn’t correct it, and didn’t offer any solution. They simply said, “It’s a mistake,” and left it at that.
With so many better options nearby, theres 0 reason to go here. Go NAM2 in the same square for Viet food or garden across the road if you want good chicken rice. Horrible.
We had a wonderful experience at Pho Dac Biet on Kennedy Road!
We ordered the Grilled Pork, Spring Roll, and Shrimp Sugar Cane on Vermicelli meal along with the 2-piece Shrimp Roll. Both dishes were absolutely delicious and instantly brought back memories of our travels to Vietnam. The flavors were authentic, fresh, and came at a very reasonable price.
The restaurant itself has a warm, homey vibe that makes it a great spot to enjoy a meal with friends and family. The décor also adds a nice touch — artificial foliage and lovely paintings give the space a cozy and inviting atmosphere.
Definitely a place we’ll be coming back to for more Vietnamese comfort food!
