A quick heads-up: parking is limited, and be cautious of homelessness in the surrounding area. Once inside though, the experience is a total contrast. The space is very hipster-forward, both in décor and concept—you can get your pho fix with a cocktail, and dine in a room with a giant tree in the middle. Such a cool, unexpected vibe.
We ordered the rib pho, which was a must. The broth was hearty, deeply beefy, and so good we drank every last drop. We also tried the pho trộn (dry turmeric noodles) out of curiosity. I worried the turmeric might taste medicinal, but it was the opposite—well balanced, flavorful, and hitting all the flavor buds. Portions are very generous; honestly, one order of either dish could easily be shared.
If we had more stomach space, we absolutely would’ve tried their bún bò Huế—next time for sure.
Overall, this is a great spot for pho: good food, friendly service, and dishes come out quickly. You pay your bill at the bar, which makes it easy to be in and out. Cool atmosphere and worth the visit.
The Food
I ordered the phở đặc biệt with brisket, rare steak, tendon, and tripe. The broth is what makes it — clean, rich, and balanced without being too heavy. The noodles stayed springy to the last bite, and the meats each had their own personality: brisket with a soft layer of fat, rare steak melting into the soup, tendon adding that chewy, soulful texture. People rave about the short rib pho here, and it’s easy to see why — it’s a statement bowl that comes out like a centerpiece.
Service & Atmosphere
Service is fast and no-nonsense. Orders hit the table quickly, and even when the shop is packed, bowls land hot. The vibe is casual, almost cafeteria-style, with families, students, and late-night crowds all mixing together. It’s the kind of place where pho is the focus, not the décor.
Practical Details
• Vegetarian options: Yes — tofu and vegetable pho is available, though this is still a meat-forward menu.
• Dietary restrictions: Many dishes use fish sauce, but staff can point out adjustments if needed.
• Parking: Limited street parking; be ready to circle or walk a block.
• Kid-friendliness: High chairs are available, and the casual setting works for families.
• Wheelchair access: Ground-level entry with wide tables inside, though peak hours can feel crowded.
Final Take
Pho Bac Súp Shop is more than a meal — it’s an institution. If you want to taste Seattle’s pho legacy, this is where you start.
Today I went in and ordered a small soup with noodle and fresh rolls Togo
First when I got my soup I seen it had cold grease sitting on top. I touched my soup and it was cold ..went back and got it replaced
Then I started eating my fresh rolls and they didn’t peel the shrimp
This is my last time coming to this location for sure
Pho bac has really good food.
It’s a very nice place to meet some friends and eat a good viet meal.
The price seems fair for the area.
Try to get there on a time that is not too full as the parking lot is small and you might not find places to seat as well.
Great experience as a whole.
I also ordered an iced coffee and it was surprisingly tasty — strong and smooth, perfect to cool down while slurpin’ noodles. The vibe inside is chill and casual, good for lunch or dinner. Service was friendly and pretty quick, even when it was kinda busy.
Overall really enjoyed my meal and coffee. Will def be coming back!
