I’ve been coming here for 3 years and still love it! It’s located in a plaza with Food City, McDonald’s, a nail salon, and more. I always order the pho with tripe—it’s fresh, flavorful, and served fast every time.

I also order their spring rolls or egg rolls. Both are delish. I would like to try other stuff on the menu in the future.

Solid place. Table service in a clean, bright restaurant. Really solid food. The grilled pork sausage spring rolls were a first for me anywhere. The spring rolls were tasty and unique. The dish contained 2 large spring rolls. The pork egg rolls were served hot and were even better than the spring rolls. The pork egg rolls were the best of the three dishes. My entree was chicken with mixed vegetables. Decent portion size with a lot of flavor. Reasonably priced, tasty food. I will go back.

Great spot! Everything was really fresh. The egg rolls were packed with filling. The Pho broth was packed with flavor and really complimented the ingredients. They also have an amazing taro smoothie that I can say enough good things about. Would highly recommend trying this spot out!

A Vietnamese place is authentic if you smell the fish sauce and pho broth once you walk in. This hole in the wall place has amazing food. I ordered the Pork Chop, Bun Bo Hue and Spring Rolls. The noodles in the Bun Bo Hue are thick rice noodles that are just incredible. Service here is pretty fast and attentive. Will certainly be my spot for a Vietnamese fix.

Food and service was good until they included the tip in the final billing without my approval. I wasn’t happy about that at all because I wasn’t informed at all they are going to tip themselves without my approval. I approved it in the end when I noticed but because of this incident I am never returning. I will find another pho restaurant that doesn’t do this sort of tipping practice.

We really love the food here, but the service can be atrocious. My daughter asked for extra fish sauce, the gentleman told her that it causes cancer. Way to freak out a nine year old man!

The Bun Bo Hue was underwhelming. Too sweet and lacked that silkiness that comes from bones stewed for hours. No beef tendon meatballs, no pork blood cubes, no pork hock. Beef in it was pretty dry and tough.

Durian milkshake was decent, but it’s just a powdered mix, milk and ice. It should be a heap of fresh durian, milk and ice sweetened with condensed milk or a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

The other dishes around me looked more authentic, but the two I got weren’t.

Excellent service, good portion sizes and good value otherwise.

This is our first time here and it was a womderful experience. We had the fried rice pork, phò, and the chow fun noodles.. the chow fun is a bomb! you can tell that they cook with a fresh ingredient.. my kids loves the egg rolls and steamed dumplings.. the ambience is great, clean, and fresh flowers. And the restroom is clean too!

I loved it. If you go, allow time for service experience. I loved he Pho ga which is the chicken soup. I did try the spring roll with chicken. I will stick to traditional next time. The jasmine tea was lovely-loose tea and the pot was lovely. The plate of basil cilantro, sprouts, jalapeños & a lemon instead of lime. It was clean and they had the door open for nice ventilation. I liked the atmosphere & authenticity. Be patient & allow the experience to unfold naturally! Yum

Phở Tái Nạm (Rare Beef & Brisket)… Large $13.99

1) Portion size 5/5 – Old school portion size. Largest for the price I’ve seen yet in Phoenix.
2) Noodles 5/5 – proper uncut sized and portion is above average.
3) Onions 5/5 – Lots of green and white Onions
4) Meat 4/5 – Very edible meat. Could have offered a few more pieces, but it was consistent with other restaurants.
5) Broth 4/5 – Highly edible. Not elite level flavor, but better than average. Its almost a shame the broth wasn’t ultra flavorful because they do everything else so well.

Total score – 23/25

Conclusion – To be considered (by me) as Elite Level Pho, a restaurant must score 5/5 on the broth and have a score of at least 23/25 . Pho A.V. is a very very good Pho place scoring 23/25. If the broth was more flavorful, it would have scored nearly perfect. There is no shame in driving from across the city for this Pho.

2nd dish was Cơm đặc biệt. Pork chop, shredded pork, fried egg and rice. This dish was excellent… 4.5/5.

Overall Pho A.V. is a very very good restaurant if you like the dishes I had. I’ve not found any better in Phoenix yet. The atmosphere is lacking but this can be overlooked as thai restaurants are rarely scoring over 3/5 on atmosphere. For Google purposes I’ll rate it a 5/5 for Thai restaurants.
