I genuinely didn’t want to have to write this review but I think it’s important that this is public information — I went to get some to-go pho, paid $19 and waited 20 minutes, and got home to find a roach in my broth. I love pho so I was super excited to get to try this place out since they have great reviews but, after this experience, I will not be stepping foot in Pho99 again.

Absolutely Horrifying Experience — I’m Still in Shock
I honestly don’t even know where to begin. I ordered vegetarian pho to go from this restaurant, and on the phone I was told it would be ready in 25 minutes. I arrived after 30 minutes, thinking I’d be safe — but I still had to wait another 15 minutes inside the restaurant. It wasn’t even busy, so there was no excuse for such a long delay.
When I finally got home and opened my order, I was immediately disappointed. The broth was completely tasteless, nothing like the rich, flavorful pho I was expecting. But then I noticed something even worse — there were pieces of meat floating in my supposedly vegetarian pho.
And as if that wasn’t bad enough, what truly left me horrified was when I spotted a small cockroach in my bowl. At first, I thought I must be imagining it. I just sat there in disbelief — but then I looked closer, and yes, it was exactly what I feared. I even took photos because I couldn’t believe this was happening.
Between the long wait, the wrong order, the tasteless broth, and finding a cockroach in my food, this was one of the most disgusting and disappointing dining experiences I’ve ever had. I genuinely hope the owners take this seriously and address their kitchen hygiene and food handling immediately, because no customer should ever experience something like this.

I really love this place. The service is great, they are very friendly which I love. The atmosphere of the place is also very nice. It’s one of those place where you can have casual lunch with friends. It’s not too loud or crowded, but rather chill and peaceful. The food is also amazing. I usually get pho and it’s one of the best I’ve had. Also try the drinks they offer! Definitely must try if you are interested in a place with great people and food!

Delicious Food and the owner is so friendly! My husband, son and I stopped in on our way to Gatlinburg and it was a delicious meal! We both got vegetarian pho (mediums more than filled us up!) and veg fresh rolls! The owner came over multiple times to interact with our 9 month old and he loved the attention!

Was coming out of town and stayed across the street, wanted to try some good Viet food. Got a Pho from these guys and got uncooked, plastic noodles. When I went back to get a bowl to put the noodles, got a condescending look from two of the waitresses there. This is unacceptable.

We love this place oh my God the Pho is out of this world incredible. It’s so fun to sit in here and just lose your self and a big bowl of goodness.! It warms our soul to be able to walk through the doors of Pho 99! The young Coco is to die for! When you wanna just get something hot and something cool and put yourself into a good feeling, you know the spot! Try the Young coconut, Treat yourself!
Happy holidays Pho99!

We’ve been fans of Phở 99 since we moved here from Chicago years ago. We were definitely spoiled up there with MANY Vietnamese restaurants and a few that are some of the best in the US. We had lived here in Knoxville for a time 20 years ago, and at that time the only option was drive all the way to Oak Ridge – and it wasn’t the best. But back to the point… we love the food. The Phở is very testy and they aren’t stingy with the sprouts, basil, or chiles on the side. The Bún bò Huế is a solid choice… and seems like it’s legit… I’ve been to several other places where’s it’s obviously the regular Pho broth with some lemongrass thrown in and some shrimp paste or red-ish oil thrown in to give it the distinctive color.
… and come on… “it’s got a number in the name” (if you know you know – ha ha)
Just had dinner there this evening and they were pretty busy and running with a minimal crew. Sam? (The “boss”) was putting out GREAT food and Sandra (our favorite server) was HUSTLING to handle all the tables, the phone calls and the internet take out orders. We had family in from out of town and they had an amazing first time experience.
Thank you!!!!
Note: my photo shows the noodles thinner noodles (bánh phở) from the “regular” phở… not the thicker rice vermicelli noodles – because I just like it that way:)

Many years ago, I remember trying these restaurants in Orange County CA. Still doesn’t disappoint. Wonderful savory broth, tender noodles, veggies and meats.
My go to is always the large Beef meatball (menu item P9) Phó. You can get Thai tea or Vietnamese Coffee. Many different rice dishes, appetizer and drinks.
This absolutely hit the spot on a cold rainy 34° day.

Food was substandard at best. Ordered the Pho and it was California style plain and bland. The condiments given did not greatly change the flavor enough to return. I had to request hot oil from the kitchen to try to make the food palatable. The spring roll appetizer had a chewy, rubbery feel and not tasty. The only reason we choose to eat here is that it was Tuesday and the better Pho restaurant is closed on Tuesday. There are no desert options which was also disappointing.
