If I could rate 0 for service, I would.
I’ve been coming to this place for 25 years, since I was 5. I used to love this place and wanted to bring my kids because I came here growing up. It’s sad but I will not be coming here ever again.
I brought my toddler and baby for the first time and the service was horrible. When the server gave us our pho she put it in the table hard and made it slide almost spilling, same with the hot tea pot. You would think you would be more careful if you clearly see I have 2 young kids. When placing our order as the owner took it my husband asked “can we also get two small bowls?” (for our babies), no eye contact, no response, just no acknowledgment. She didn’t even up giving us the 2 small bowls.. so we asked the server once our food arrived and she doesn’t say anything, no eye contact but she brought us the bowls after, handed it to us without saying anything. It was just horrible service. If they were busy I would let it slide but there was only 2 other customers.
If you’re white or speak their language, they’ll treat you a lot better. When I used to come as a kid they were nice but that’s because my dad speaks Viet. Anyways, when we were leaving a white guy walked in and the owner goes “Hii, happy new year!” And was so cheerful. It really just sucked to see how differently we were treated. When we walked in our greeting was “how many?”.
While we were eating the server was mopping the floor and clearly using a bleach cleaning solution. The smell was so potent, I was shocked. People are eating and I have my babies here, why are they exposing everyone to chemicals? We were there at 4pm..Shouldn’t sanitizing the floors happen when you’re closed ?
The food has also changed, the quality is very low now. I ordered the pho with beef tripe and it was so dried up. The broth was not flavourful either. So disappointed.
What really impressed me was the attention to detail. The herbs and garnishes were crisp and fresh, the chili and lime added just the right brightness, and everything was served piping hot. The staff were welcoming and attentive without being overbearing, and the restaurant had a cozy, inviting atmosphere that made the whole meal even better.
This is the kind of place you can come for a quick comforting bowl of pho, or sit down with friends and share several dishes. Either way, you leave happy and satisfied.
Highly recommend to anyone craving authentic, delicious pho!
– Opens late at night
– Got a table without waiting
– seems to be a regular spot for residents in the neighborhood
– well run restaurant with good operations routine, ie. menu ready, stack of order sheets under table, utensils and sauces on the table, napkins well stocked, clean table and chairs
– clean washroom
– the lady who looks like the manager/ owner is super nice and friendly.
– pho broth was good
Not so positive ( reasons for from 5 star to 3 star):
– rude serving lady, no smile, puts down the food at the corner of the table and expects the guests to take care of themselves. Her acknowledgment of our request is just a stare. No response when we say thank you. Maybe she is overworked and it’s been a long day.
– my favourite Vietnamese quick meal is vermicelli because it’s light and delicious, implying that I have had a lot of vermicelli so I know what is vermicelli. I ordered spring roll & chicken vermicelli, well the vermicelli I got was not vermicelli, it was rice noodles, the thicker kind of rice noodles which made the dish more starchy and heavier.
– same rice noodles were used in pho and spring rolls… those who know would know that they are supposed to be different
– fried spring roll tasted doughy, not enough filling and the filling had a lot of carrots. The fresh spring roll was not tasty, the wrong rice noodles again made it taste very dense.
We like coming here because the service is fast. I mean they want you to get in and out quickly so they can serve more customers.
We typically ordered the well done tripe, flank and brisket pho, vermicelli with spring rolls and pork vermicelli and the pork chop with rice. We really enjoyed the food. I’ve been to so many Vietnamese restaurant but couldn’t find the sauce that’s better than this one.
The entire meal cost $50 without tip. Will definitely come back.
We’ve also ordered the milk shakes in the past and the favorites are the durian and Avocado shakes. They cost a little bit less than $5 per glass.
They do takeout now but eating in is still preferred as it doesn’t quite taste the same taking it home.
I love their Vietnamese Pho, fried spring rolls, porkchop with rice, coconut shake, and even their condiments! ♥️♥️
