Ordered Avocado toast since it was on their board as a “specialty” breakfast item and it’s one of my favorites typically. I’ve had it so many times at many restaurants all over and also make it myself for brunch many weekends. The absolute worst! I literally thought it was a joke when it was brought to the table! It was a lightly toasted piece of dark whole wheat bread slice spread with some melted butter and approximately one half an avocado vertically sliced on top. Nothing else, not even a garnish! I guess technically it’s avocado toast but for $5,00! I’d be happy to show them how to actually make it so it actually tastes amazing! Even salt and pepper couldn’t save it! Honestly, couldn’t they have at least drizzled it with a splash of balsamic vinegar glaze and a token slice of tomato? Keep in mind that this is a breakfast ONLY restaurant with a somewhat limited menu, at least do those things correctly please My husband and his buddy had the sausage scramble which was a lot of food and as expected flavorwise so they weren’t as disappointed as I was. Owner replied that the Avocado toast was “as advertised ” but all that was written on the Specials board was “Avocado toast ” with no description. Definitely wouldn’t have ordered it if it were described as it was received. I did go to another breakfast place the next day and their so-called Avocado toast was described similarly as Bensons except they sprinkled on some everything bagel seasoning. Both should look up recipes for Avocado toast because clearly they have no idea how to make it properly.

Another great breakfast at Benson’s By the Beach. The food is always delicious, service is always awesome, and they know how to make you feel special.

2 reasons why they don’t deserve a 5 star rating. The young lady who greeted us yesterday was obviously annoyed that customers were coming in. After being told it would be 15 to 20 minutes with 3 open tables and I’m disabled, use a walker, you know she wanted us to go elsewhere. We didn’t and got a table right away with a server that was overwhelmed because young lady left her alone on her first day. The second reason is because they put the crab on the English muffin so it was hot and cooked by the hot egg and Hollandaise so it tasted more canned than fresh. It seemed fresh so I don’t know why they would do tha and not put it on top. Definitely going back though. Clean place. Friendly server. Tasty.

Super cute, great atmosphere and very friendly staff. The food was topnotch. One of the best chicken fried steaks I have ever had. The biscuits are enormous! Hot food was hot, and steaks we’re crispy! 100 percent recommend.

We were looking for a breakfast place in Long Beach and decided to give Benson’s a try. We were so glad we did! Delicious food came to our table after a short wait. I ordered the breakfast burrito and it was really tasty. My Big Bro ordered the pancake breakfast and the pancake was so large, it extended over the plate it was served on! He loved the light and fluffy texture and told me that the pancake was delicious. Lil Sis ( who has a little appetite ) ordered the kid’s French Toast with strawberries and whipped cream. She gave it a “thumbs up”. My kid ordered the breakfast sandwich and hoovered it up in minutes! The prices are quite reasonable and everything was delish! Highly recommend!

Staff both charming n to-date, best breakfast I’ve had on the penninsula yet. Diner coffee in porcelain cups…I had a Taco Omelette. (I know…) it was great. I have to confess tho…I liked the simple, eggs over easy w/bacon n hash browns the most. Best bacon…

This place was wonderful. We had a short wait, less than 20 minutes. Picnics table outside. Right off back customers service was wonderful. They have lots of room. I ordered the bacon and eggs it was delicious. Bacon not over crispy. Strawberry and French toast was tasty. Mum had biscuit and gravy. Biscuit was a hug, flaky drop biscuit. Mum mentioned the gravy was pretty good. The service was fantastic. Big party’s can be hard. But she very helpful. Wonderful waitress!

Great breakfast!
This place has style, outstanding service, and really good food.
The menu is packed with breakfast favorites with options on how you would like your meal constructed. The hollandaise was exceptional. Our meal was cooked properly and in a reasonable amount of time.
The service is very good. We felt welcomed right away and was taken to a clean table with no wait.
The menu pricing is reasonable and fit the portions and quality of the food.
We will definitely be back.

We tried this on Saturday morning when it was not quite so busy. No adult beverages but lots of breakfast options. I ordered the sliced ham Egg Benedict with a side of bacon and my husband got biscuits and gravy. It arrived timely but was slightly disappointing. The Ham Egg Benedict was flavorful but the English muffin could have been more crispy all the way thru…The biscuits and gravy wasn’t where we had expected it to be. The service was thoughtful and quick. Definitely a place to try if you are looking for breakfast right along the main street – where all the shops are at.
