amazing pho and service!! incredibly friendly and welcoming atmosphere, as soon as we came in we were seated and offered water. i had pho no.4 which was absolutely delicious! food was fresh, well seasoned and perfect for winter. we also ordered all 3 appetizers, my personal favorite was the chicken wings which were very crunchy and perfectly seasoned. i loved the workers who were especially kind. would highly recommend coming here 🙂

The food was good and no i didn’t leave a tip i really dont care !. Service was trash !. Server came and i had order thai tea ! He said what color like what what do u mean are my options!. He just stared at me for 5 minutes i ask for the steak to be cooked all the way not rare he looked at me again minutes later he called someone else i asked for thai tea he said okay i ordered the boba tea !. Then he stopped me and said he can get someone to speak Spanish like we weren’t just speaking English!. Am latin American which my family comes from (latino- Hispanic) why would u cut me off middle of my order to get someone to speak Spanish to me !. In the middle of my order so he racial profile me !. And didn’t want to take my order cause i look hispanic and not like his own which is Vietnamese!!. Or should i say Chinese cause yall all look alike ? Thats how i see it i was seen as my own so he didnt want to service me the reason am giving 2 stars cause the pho was good service was definitely out the window and when it was time to pay the guy at the register kept asking me is it two different tabs like what i said no the first time how is a 10 years old going to pay ? Feb ,6 2026 !. Eating here first and last time !. It was me and my daughter eating one of the worst experiences ever smh !. Would not recommend!….

I’ve been eating at Pho79 on Va. Beach Blvd for 20 years because their food has always been good. Atmosphere is just okay but that is not important here in this review. “The service” last night was rude and awful. My friend and I walked in at 7:29pm, hours on door says open to 8pm. The closing manager came over and knows I’m a regular and said “Do you know we close at 8pm?” He was clearly agitated that we were there. I said yes, I’m aware and that is why we came at 7:30pm. We ordered without looking at the menu immediately. He never asked how we were, no smile just plainly agitated that we came. There were 6 other occupied tables when we arrived.
At 7:55pm all tables had left except for us and one other table of 2. We were only half finished with our small bowls of soup. We were rushing the whole time, their soup is always hot and even though the soup tasted amazing we wanted to leave from there, due to feeling like the manager did not want us. So, at 7:55pm paid $31 for 2 small bowls of soup and asked for soup containers to take home the leftovers. I wrapped the sprouts and basil in napkins, no box was given for that and we left.
So here is My Suggestion, Pho lock your doors at 7pm or 7:30pm, so No new customers can enter. This way the closing manager and staff can leave by 8pm. Keep the inside door handle unlocked so inside guests can leave. If you keep offending your regulars or any customers they will stop coming. One more incident, the busser who was cleaning tables bumped the heavy cart on wheels so hard into my booth seat, that my whole seat moved out of place with me in it. Never said sorry, never asked if I was okay?
I’m a former server and both behaviors are offensive and unacceptable. Obviously customers at this location are not valued. Just Lock your doors at 7p or 7:30p to keep your customers from coming into eat, so you can go home exactly at 8pm. We sat in the car and watched the last table leave at 8p and the closing manager walked out a few minutes after that.

this is essentially a Vietnamese soup hall. you seat yourself you don’t have a waiter constantly coming back to your table. this is Vietnamese food so take note before ordering something assuming that all Asian food is the same. That’s what I see all of these reviews saying. They seem to be steming from the customers misinformation or racist stereotypes of Asian cuisine they may have.

This restaurant is great for its simplicity and delicious food. You come here because you’re hungry not to be waited on hand and foot.

Authentic Vietnamese soup restaurants in Vietnam are fast-paced, functional, and often involves eating on-the-go to suit an, early-rising, labor-driven culture. So that explains why you seat yourself and once you get your food your job is to eat and go.

Service here is always great, the food is beyond delicious from the Beef Pho to the Bahn Mi’s. Their boba drinks are delicious as well. My wife enjoys the green tea one. I love getting the #9 with meatballs added! Their fresh spring rolls are delicious and come with a dip that can’t be beat by any other Vietnamese restaurant.

So before you listen to misinformed people in the comments claiming racism and bad service it’s probably because they went into with a narrow mind or with prejudice stereotypes.

Love this spot and will always come back!

When you pay ask for a to go box and they will give it to you… the stuff people are describing in here sounds like they never have had Vietnamese food.

First of all they messed up the order twice before we got this plate, this is the 3rd plate that we got and after a few bites we noticed therw was a whole bug in our food. Definitely would not recommend here or eat here ever again.

Been here a couple times before. This place was empty when I walked in. A casual place where you seat yourself. Had the #9 and was disappointed by flavor. Broth was underwhelming, lacking the complex flavor from all the herbs and spices. It was more on a salty side.

Veggies were not fresh so didn’t touch it. There were flies on the table, landing on sticky spots. One of the owners sitting on one of chairs by the entrance watching me eat. Just strange. I couldn’t bring myself finish the food. Won’t be back.

LarderRoom…Pho 79 is my go-to for Pho and Bahn Mi in Virginia Beach. I also love their spring rolls and can easily polish off a few before my meal. The Vietnamese coffee is excellent. You will thank me later. Go enjoy some amazing food and get a cool shirt!!!! Enjoy!

I enjoyed my soup but didn’t enjoy the service.

We stood there waiting to be seated, we sat ourselves since the men running around didn’t tell us what to do , just to be told we couldn’t sit there ‍♀️

The man who took our order and dropped it off was catering more to the white people , it was the only time I saw him smile also. He was cold and straight faced with us, no matter how polite we were.

We tried to get someones attention for the check and to-go container but they seemed so unhappy and never really looking around to see if anyone needed help.

I won’t be returning or recommended this place

Plenty of parking, plenty of seating. The menu was simple to understand and easy to order. We ordered A2 egg rolls (SUPER GOOD! ) , #H4 Seafood Pho, #9 beef pho with extra Tendonsand Extra Tripe, and S1 Ban Mi. Everything came out hot and fresh. I will say I was most impressed with the A2 fried rolls, that pork filling is phenomenal!

The food is as advertised “pho king good”. Service is quick and easy. The staff is friendly. The dining room is spacious and open. The ambiance lacks luster. I would not bring a date here. It’s very family-friendly. Reasonable prices.
