The Vietnamese restaurant Phở 54 is a great place to go for a delicious bowl of Pho. The workers are family run and the prices are very reasonable.

11.19.25 2:30pm Our absolute fave pho and bun restaurant, they don’t serve anything else, now open 7 days a week. This restaurant has been here for 40 years! It’s a no frills, cafeteria style, single family owned business with the kindest people staffed here. One of my doctors recommended this place.
The pho broth is actually real, simmered bone broth instead of powdered soup base like 99% of other pho restaurants. We tested the broth, took it home, and it gelled completely in the fridge. Pho and bun are super fresh, with abundant amount of meat and fresh vegetables. My parents rate this restaurant’s pho as the best tasting they ever ate, and they LOVE pho! We couldn’t detect any msg flavor in the food.
We overheard another Caucasian male patron, who was there for a pick up order, talking with the owner gentleman and he said he had been a loyal patron of this restaurant since 1997 and he drives down all the way from Castro Valley just to get the to-go pho from here. That has to be an hour’s drive one way without heavy traffic.
Currently there are at least 6 story apt buildings being built right next to and behind the restaurant. Parking lot is not plentiful but if dining at odd hours it won’t be as busy.

Pho 54 is my go-to place for a comforting bowl of pho. I’ve been coming here since I was little, and the quality of the pho has remained consistently how I like it. Light, flavorful broth, with chewy noodles, and offers rare beef on the side. No frills and fast service, this place is a quintessential Vietnamese pho spot. You can’t go wrong with a bowl of pho here, chicken or beef!

My family has been going to Pho 54 for years! We have tried many other pho restaurants throughout SJ but always return to 54. The pho broth is consistently on point and the meat portions are huge even for a “small” bowl. Do not be intimated by the location or appearance as it is pretty old school but that’s what makes it so special.

The most accommodating, friendly, and delicious pho joint in the Bay. My friends and I are from San Jose and this is one of our favorites.
My friend had her bachelorette party truly ESSJ style with her favorite spot being Pho 54. They went above and beyond to make sure she had a memorizable time.
They allowed us to decorate BTS theme and even insisted playing their music on the tv! It was truly a tailored experience. We were so lucky to be treated so kindly.
We will always promote and support Pho 54. Come here!

Came here due to the high reviews. Unfortunately, I was disappointed. The place needs some updates, it looked run down and not as clean. Yes, for $9.80, large special pho, and it was very large, with quite a lot of meats. But, it smelled “not so fresh”, and tasted “stale”, not sure which meat was the problem though because I had to stop eating.

Was craving for a good pho after a visit to Houston where I was taken to a pho-nomenal pho place there! Was specifically looking somewhere that offers green onion oil (nuoc beo) as a condiment and Pho 54 came as one of the results. It did not disappoint!
The storefront is unassuming and they’re cash only. The broth and the meat are both tasty!

The large pho bowl is really BIG! Broth was a little light but clean tasting. Tons of meat and veggies. Hủ tiếu was also very tasty with lots of meat. Service was very friendly and hot tea is complimentary.

Went and got some more pho with my dad for breakfast yesterday. This place gives a bit more meat and has a great side order of grilled beef. Pho is great any time of the day.

This place gives home style vibe. The pho is great. I just moved to the area and have been looking for a good pho spot, although I’ve tried a few places I really enjoyed the soup broth they make as well as they give you lots of greens to add to the soup and I love that. The people that work here are so friendly the first time I went in I was sick I had a mask on and ordered to go a kind older lady came and brought me a tea I had mentioned I was only there for a to go order so she didn’t have to worry about extra dishes and she said “I know it’s to go have some tea anyways” honestly I definitely needed and for that and the food I made this my to go pho spot and anytime I order a to go order they always provide a cup of ice tea or hot tea. The only down fall is it is cash only.
