The service was very quick even though it was at lunch time during the week.
The only down side to the atmosphere was that there was a patron who was talking very loudly on the phone using speakerphone setting.
Aside from that our visit was great! I’d love to go again!
I’ve been here 4x within the past month because the food is so authentic and amazing. However, I’ve decided to not return after my experience last night. I’ve noticed EACH time visiting this place that they are ONLY friendly to white Americans and their kind (Vietnamese) individuals. They are so loud , bubbly and friendly when it’s them but treat African Americans like absolute crap! No greeting, no refills, they will not come & check on you unless the younger teenagers are working then they will make sure you’re ok. Last night, we got no refills, I was looking around waiting for a ticket & the guy just pointed to the front …. So I’m communicating with him across the table asking for a to go box! I’ve overlooked the behaviors prior because this place is around the corner from my house & the food is THAT GOOD but I will spend my money else where, where I can receive quality customer service regardless of my skin color . I truly do not feel welcomed here. This is unacceptable to treat paying customers like animals .
Then I ordered meatball pho which the broth tasted old, not very fresh. But manageable.
I asked for some white rice on the side and when they brought it out, that too was old and hard. Felt like I was chewing rocks.
The only fresh thing was the vegetables for the pho.
Everything else was stale, old, and had hair in it.
The service was none existent. I had to flag the staff down anytime I needed something.
And the older lady who checked me out was not very pleasant either. No hello, thank you, how was your meal. Just “$26 total”, and the end. Definitely not coming back.
1. If the waiter is a young person (less than 25 years), then most likely that kid would have studied in US. She/he/they will be well-behaved, friendly and polite. If the waiter is middle aged or old, then read next point below.
2. You need to be a White American. Yup !!!!!! You would also be fine if you are Vietnamese. If so, then irrespective of the age of the waiters serving you, they will be friendly, polite and sweet. But if you are of any other skin color, then they treat you like crap. Been to this restaurant atleast 5 times this year, so I am in a good position to make this claim confidently and boldly.
That’s the reason why I give 1 star for this place. But, the food here is amazing — 5 stars for the food.
After I paid at the counter (with a younger employee) and even left a tip on the table, she ran after my family as we were walking out, loudly accusing me of not paying — as if I were trying to dine and dash. It was later confirmed that I had already paid, yet she never offered any apology for publicly humiliating me.
No matter how good the food may be, this level of unprofessional and disrespectful behavior is unacceptable. I will absolutely not be returning.
