I stopped by randomly on Wednesday around 11:30am and had high hopes, but unfortunately the broth and pho just didn’t hit the spot. The broth tasted a bit bland to me, and the pho overall didn’t leave me wanting to come back anytime soon. I appreciate that there’s a Vietnamese restaurant in the East Bay, and I’m hoping it was just an off day — but for me, the food was simply okay and lacked flavor.

I ordered a bahn mi, fried fish cakes and a bowl of the #1 beef.
The broth was had dimension, flavor, it complimented every ingredient in a different way. The portion was generous and the beef was actually tender. They actually included pieces of beef still on the bone which I’ve never seen before at a pho restaurant.
The Bahn-mi was served on fresh bread, it was dense and had a perfect bite to it. The crust crispy and light and the ingredients were fresh too.
The fried fish cakes were fried to perfection and had a bouncy texture I really enjoyed.
Give this place a try, it’s my new favorite pho in the east bay.

We visited Pho 1 Express for dinner and ordered the Bun Bo Hue (T2), Combo Rice Plate (#35), and a Mango Smoothie with boba. The Bun Bo Hue was decent but lacked the bold flavor I was expecting. I’ll likely try a different dish next time. The Combo Rice Plate was enjoyable—our guest liked it a lot. The Mango Smoothie, however, tasted like it might have been made with canned ingredients, so I wouldn’t order it again. Overall, the food was good, and the dining experience was pleasant.

If I could give 0 stars, I would. I went to dinner with my family and half of us received our food quickly, while the other half waited much longer — and one of the meals was just a plain pho . Another family that sat down after us received all of their meals before we did.
I asked the waitress about the missing meals, and she seemed confused. We still waited another 10 minutes before the rest of the food finally came out. At that point, half of our table was already done eating, and the rest had to rush or eat alone. We came to eat together as a family, and that didn’t happen.
Definitely not returning.

They have a soft opening since 5 months ago. We had Pho Ga, Pho veggies and beef as well as short ribs bbq. I would say the soups and egg noodles taste much better than before! Jason, the owner, makes everything in the house now!

It seems like the management/ownership might have changed. The staff is much slower. The food is different. Chicken wings are almost overcooked and almost comparable to a jawbreaker.
The sauce for the spring rolls was way off and could not be finished. I resorted to finishing my spring roll with sweet and sour sauce – yes, i was THAT disappointed.

The short ribs were cooked to perfection, truly some of the best food I’ve had in the area! The staff was very polite and cheery, and the vibes were great, highly recommend!
