Born at the 1982 World’s Fair in Knoxville, Tennessee, the Petro, a layered delight of Fritos corn chips, special recipe chili (also available plant-based), shredded cheese, diced tomatoes, real sour cream, green onions, black olives and jalapeños quickly became a fan-favorite! Petro’s Chili & Chips was such a fun stop! Love the fresh, crispy chips topped with warm chili — simple comfort food and so good. We also tried the chili cheese hot dog and the pulled pork BBQ, and both were delicious.
The loaded potatoes are big and have lots of toppings, so they’re perfect to share or make a meal out of.
I loved learning a little about the history too — it started at fairs and festivals years ago and has become a Tennessee favorite. Such a fun tradition to finally try.
Everything came out hot and fresh, service was quick and friendly, and it was just an all-around great stop. Add this one to your food bucket list ✔️

I ordered for the first time last night after a referral and I’m highly satisfied. The person who brought me my order (I did pick up) was extremely kind and I appreciated that. With this weather chili seemed like a good option and I love wedge salads. I unfortunately couldn’t eat the chips as I’m having a temporary tooth problem but I’m sure they would have been a great addition. Ordered the Petros minus chips and a chicken wedge salad, I was not disappointed and it hit the spot. Will definitely be back!

Petro’s is another place with a limited menu, but it does a great job on what they have. I really enjoy the pulled-pork and shredded chicken BBQ nachos. The only issue I’ve had is with taking to go. The nachos are fresh and crisp in the restaurant but lose all that goodness in the white Styrofoam container on the trip home.

This is the only Petros that had inside dining that we’ve found since they closed the one in Crossville TN. Great food. Great, fast service. Staff were friendly. Store was clean. Restrooms were clean. Plenty of parking at that time. Would recommend.

Stopped here a couple a days ago for a quick lunch as we where passing through and ordered a couple of things and from the time we placed our order to the time we reached the window the lady was super friendly over the intercom she kept making suggestions on what to try and super patient with me. When we received our food at the window the lady there with the biggest smile ever was so friendly and you could tell she really loves what she does. I would recommend trying this place if you are ever in the area and if you like stuff with chili on it. Food taste perfect the day we stopped by.

First timers! The food was excellent. Home style chili with lots of meat and beans. If you like it hot add some jalapeño or red pepper. My wife had the Blue Cheese wedge salad and loved it. Good clean place. Will definitely stop in when we’re around.

***Just to update my review, I’ve been back a few more times since I originally posted this. Most Petro’s in this area only the drive-thru is open. This Petro’s has had the dining room open for some time, now, as well as their drive-thru. Most of the time I dine-in here. Everyone’s always nice and the order is always correct. The drive-thru is really good, too, but I mostly dine-in. ~I just want people to know that while other Petro’s dining rooms in this area are closed, this one is open.

I’ve been to 47 states and lived in some of them too and have never been to a place like this. I just moved here and wanted to try something different and found this place. I dont know what to say… if you want something hearty and you get the petro or the petro baked potato with jalapeños and olives and then ask for pulled pork extra on top then get a sweet tea you will not be disappointed.
