I’ve been to Sul Lago more times than I can count, and I’ve never had a bad experience. Hands down the best Italian spot south of the river, consistent, welcoming, and always delicious.
The staff is top-notch, Shauna, Zeke, Julie, and Jared make you feel right at home and always deliver great service.
Some of my favorites:
Chicken Parmesan – absolutely to die for and large portion
Steaks – cooked perfectly every time and great plain or with Sul Lago sauce
Bruschetta, mussels, salads – flavorful and fantastic starters
Delicious cocktails – well-crafted and strong
Desserts – the blueberry bread pudding + chocolate cake are both unreal
The filet tip gnocchi is a go-to, but I love trying the nightly specials, every pasta I’ve had here has been fantastic.

Start with great cocktails for typical prices of Martinis. Never had a bad drink here. To me the food is ok. Nothing that makes me want to come again and again. Most people stop here for the steak not the Italian style food. Steaks are ok but I learned to no longer order them. Generally over cooked from what was ordered. Portions for steaks are very large and easy to share. Risotto undercooked and starchy. Odd large mushrooms lack flavor of the slow cook risotto method. Caesar salad was delicious. The spaghetti bolognese was not what I was expecting. Long stringy mushy bits of meat in a watery sauce served with penne. Lacked a fresh homemade flavor. Did not come out hot and steamy. It appeared most Italian style dishes on the menu included complicated recipes vs the simplicity of true Italian food with large flavors. They sometimes will have a great daily special to select from. They had sandwiches to choose from if you prefer that. Dessert drink menu had a great selection. Service was great. No issues with time limits. Will come back with friends when they go but not on my own.

Great place! Group of 6 and everyone loved the food, cocktails, and service. Pear martinis were a hit and so were the steaks and pastas. A few reasons for losing a star: 1 – bread basket is delightful but not complimentary like it is at nearly every $$$$ restaurant we visit, 2 – no birthday kicks, 3 – the steak add-ons. The server reiterated they were jumbo scallops and $8 each, so we expected jumbo. They were the smallest scallops at the table by far. Two at the party had different seafood pastas and their scallops, included in their meal price, were at least double the size of the add-on scallops which were $9 a pop on the bill. Despite that, we enjoyed the meal and cozy atmosphere. We normally go to Porterhouse in Lakeville, the group liked the change and would do it again, without the add-ons.

Such a great dinner at Perron’s Sul Lago. This is our favorite local spot for a nice night out. On Friday night, we had a wonderful server, Shannon, and loved seeing the new menu since our last visit.
We started with the garlic cheese bread which was amazing! I had the steak tip pasta and my husband had his favorite, the steak tip gnocchi. Everything was delicious, and I cannot wait to go back and try more.

The service here was very slow, but our food was great. My husband’s steak was cooked perfectly, the side of garlic mashed potatoes was huge (enough for 2). I had the cioppino and it was certainly the highlight of our dinner! It was great! We had reservations for 5 and did not get a server to put our order in (she did get us drinks right away) until 5:30, which luckily we had some extra time to wait.

Best meal in MN so far! We just moved here from a foodie city and haven’t been impressed with the food around here as of yet. Perron’s changed that! The food was delicious and flavorful. My husband had the filet tip fettuccine and I had the seafood risotto. The martinis were also too notch. We’ll be back!

This is your perfect little neighborhood Italian bistro! For how long I’ve lived in the area, I can’t believe I’m just now getting here. The server was absolutely wonderful, as was the service. And the food was pretty hearty and cozy for a cold winter’s night. We had the meatballs, burrata bruschetta special, goat cheese apple salad, mushroom risotto, tri tip fettuccine, and the Arctic Char special. All was flavorful and left us full and cozy. Definitely worth getting out here!

Sat at a high top in the bar- great experience. Seated 5:20, ordered three of the $6 appetizers right away to be within happy hour. Delicious!!
Take 2: booth dinner, and had the pear martini, bruschetta, stuffed mushrooms and bacon and onion dip to start… we darn near licked the plates clean! Entrees were the beef tips in fettuccine and the seafood pasta- so so good!

My favorite local restaurant! I wish I could dine here every week. My family and I love the steaks, the Parmesan-encrusted chicken, the calamari, the salmon, the cioppino, and the crème brûlée. The pear martini is delicious, too. All of it is prepared perfectly. Great, consistent service from Jared, Zeke, Julie, and Shana!

I never knew this was here but so glad it was recommended by friends. Made a reservation on their answering machine and they called back the next day. Service was excellent and server was experienced and knowledgeable. Great selection of different food options on the menu and specials to boot. Everyone was very pleased with their food. Will be going back to this quaint little spot soon.
Update: We visit frequently, when we are looking for a nice dinner. You can always count on great food and service here!
