My most recent experience in this restaurant wasn’t a great one. This was one of my favorite Pepe’syears ago. I stopped in recently because I was in the area, only to be severely disappointed. We dined in, I had to ask for chips and salsa after the waiter served the people behind us who came in after us. We had to ask for the water. We placed our order as well as a to go order, we had to reorder the to go order because it was never made, got home and the order was wrong SMH. The food wasn’t great either. I don’t know what salsa they put on my burrito, but it wasn’t right. I eat A LOT of Pepe’s and this was the most sub par visit I’d ever had. The portions were off, my food was prepared strangely, and I had to ask for the guacamole, sour cream, and nachos that come with my meal. The customer service was poor and we felt like the staff was a bit prejudiced, as if they didn’t mind us buying the food, but us dining in was not favored. Very disappointed, won’t be back.

This was my first and last time trying this low budget mockery of an authentic Mexican restaurant. I ordered 4 shrimp tacos . What I got was lettuce , tomatoes, tortilla shell, and 2 -4 shrimp in EACH taco. I assumed it was a lot because the tortilla shells were somewhat big . But when I unfolded it I was highly disappointed . I should’ve known something was up when I would NEVER /HARDLY see people inside (this was BEFORE covid-19) . Take this as lesson people , if you drive by a food establishment and hardly see people inside or drive through please be paused and keep driving don’t go in. Stay Safe & Be Well.

I ordered 5 steak tacos and they were terrible. Each taco had too much fat in it. Every time I took a bite I had to spit out a bunch of fat. Taco shells were stale also!

The food was superb. We enjoyed our margaritas. That’s the end of the pros. We had a party of 9. The service was awful. One table didn’t have menus so we had to share. When the food came out, we had to ask for silver ware. None of our waters or beverages were refilled. And he thought he deserved a $15 tip?? Hell no!! My family has been eating at various Pepe’s since before I was born. It is a must stop place when we come to Chicago. We have never had a bad experience but after this we WON’T be back. Not to any of them. Gratuity is for good service. Obviously our lousy service was because of this automatic tip. Salomon was our server or lack there of

The food at this location is very ok and doesn’t have the same flavors as others in the city. Also this location closed its dining room so they built a small shelter around the entrance. Only went here for the nostalgia as I had one within walking distance from my childhood home.

Taco special tacos ordered and they didn’t have much meat in them and were not wrapped so my toppings was everywhere! Ordered the corn in the cup it was horrible! Tasted like a whole bunch of lime juice was poured on it! Only thing that saved them was the flavor of the meat! Well prepared!
