This little hole in the wall place offers a small buffet but hardy. The cornbread needs to be softer. But the beans were great and the salad refreshed and dressing was very good the taco casserole has mushrooms but I found it well seasoned.

Great Place for Lunch
I had the pleasure of stopping into Penny’s Plae for lunch earlier this year. I was in the Newport area for business and I went with a business colleague from the area. The Restaurant is easy to find, just off a main road. The Restaurant is fairly new and has a buffet at lunch with many offerings. There is a salad bar with many selections, and a hot table serving meats and other hot foods. I tried the barbecue chicken and the tender juicy deep-fried pork chops which were out of this world. This is great place to have lunch and I would go back.

We drove from walnut ridge to eat here and it was terrible nothing on the buffet,after 20min they brought some eggs and some biscuits never any beacon the whole time we were there we talked to another couple from batesville and they were gonna ask for part of there money back because it was not a buffet when there’s nothing on it. If you have to go eat somewhere else after eating at a buffet that’s bad. Won’t be back!!!….

I most definitely will not go back. I suggest you take your business elsewhere. I ordered fish , which is on the menu, but the “chef” came out and said it was all frozen. So… I opted for the buffet. Not alot to choose from but the fried chicken looked good. BIG MISTAKE. The mashed potatoes were watery, the white beans were not seasoned and cold, there was some kind of slop looking meat ball in egg noodle, the green beans would be good if not cold and the chicken was edible. The salad bar was very small, which would have been fine if they would have kept it filled but they didn’t. Nor did they keep the hot food bar stocked. I paid 16.99 for 2 pieces of chicken and extra for a drink. DO BETTER PENNY’S PLACE cause you suck!

Wednesday’s Fried Chicken was hot and melted in your mouth. The white beans were just like my country Grandma used to make them, delicious! I will definitely go back for more at Penny’s Place. Service was friendly and very attentive to all my needs. I drove 30 minutes to try this restaurant because I heard great things about it, they were right. 10 out of 10 experience. The only issue was the inside seating is your typical older restaurant atmosphere, it could use some updating. I will definitely return to try the Tuesday Pork Chops and the Friday Fried Fish.

Asked for buffet, food bins empty, biscuit crumbs no biscuits, no bacon. Waited, a fellow with biscuits and gravy residue on his plate was wanting seconds he waited too. I asked 2 waitress about getting food , waited, a guy in Walmart uniform came, saw empty food bins, was surprised said his mother ran it. Finally a woman appeared and apologized said it was her fault. She brought biscuits, left the old bottom of the pan gravy, brought sausage and bacon but not ham, 3 pieces in bin was over heated, and dry, we left them. Overall first impression, order off the menu. Was charged for buffet but only got slim pickings and one trip thru. Not a good first visit with my friend.

I came here for breakfast. All the food lacked flavor. The gravy was pasty. The biscuit was dry and crumbly. I ordered sunny side up eggs, and they were good. The hash browns were dry. I’m guessing everything had been setting for a while when we ate there.
