I got the biscuits and gravy and the power bowl and both were absolutely delicious. Can’t wait to come back for some espresso and baked goods.

I was looking forward to our first visit to Penn’s as I had heard good things about it from others. However, we were quickly very disappointed. The waffle came out burnt, the hash browns (pictures) aren’t hash browns at all but just soggy French fries and were inedible. Additionally the biscuit was stale, and the ketchup was rancid and left a horrible taste and stinging in my wife’s mouth. Furthermore, beware that the latte machine is broken and others have said it’s been broken for months. We won’t return.

This place is great! Right across the street from the AirBnb we stayed in which is why we tried it out for breakfast. We got seated right away and our waitress was super friendly.
I got a biscuit with gravy. Biscuits and gravy is one of my favorite breakfast meals and theirs did not disappoint. It wasn’t so thick that it’s like Elmer’s glue and doesn’t soak into the biscuit at all, and it wasn’t so thin that it’s watery and causes a soggy biscuit. There was a hefty amount of sausage in it too. It was delicious. I’m usually disappointed when I order biscuits and gravy at restaurants because I make great gravy, but my only regret at Penn’s was not getting two orders of it.
My wife got a double stack pancake which was also good. The over-easy eggs were cooked perfectly and the bacon was crispy. We also split a piece of cake because they looked so good and it was delicious as well.

The food was brought out quick and was excellent!
Fried pork chops, mashed potatoes and gravy, Lima beans, turnip greens. Plus the best cornbread.
The surprise is all of the homemade desserts!

Wow!! Who would have guessed that this little gem would have such wonderfully fresh food in Whiteville of all places?! Living in Southeastern North Carolina, many times we feel like we live in a food desert when it comes to healthy options. However, Penn’s Grill is an exceptional find with super fresh food made with whole ingredients and tons of gluten-free options. I was shocked in the most pleasant way! If you are still in the mood for a great hamburger or hot dog, reminiscent of Penn’s menu offerings from 20 years back, you can still get those here too! What a great mix to find in one place! They’ve got something here for everybody… literally.

Great portions! Great taste! (And with a few tweaks they could be spot on.) We were halfway greeted, with a “sit anywhere”
Our server was just there. We had what we needed, maybe not quite as timely, but we were satisfied. We would have taken sweets home, but when we were looking at them, no one offered. And it was almost as if we were in the way. (Granted it is a small place) But there was only one other table there) It was almost like BYE…. Work on that customer service! And those smiles, it can make a big difference in remembering somewhere you want to go again, it can make a good experience a great one!

I came after lunch about 2; no crowd very peaceful and enjoyable. I didnt wait long for my food. Everyone was nice and very accommodating. There was so many sweets as I was looking around. Couldn’t just get the grilled chicken avacodo sandwich meal. Had to buy cookies, pecan brownie and their blueberry cobbler. Everything was delicious. Will definitely come back!
