I was celebrating my wedding anniversary and asked in the Neighborhood app for recommendations. There were no less than a dozen recommendations for Pennells. Hands down, they were right! We had the Clams Bianco appetizer. The clam sauce was so delicious that we had them pack it up, and we poured it over spaghetti the next day. I had the shrimp genoase as an entrée. It was cooked perfectly! My husband had the veal. The servings were generous. We had enough for leftovers the next day. We will definitely be returning to Pennells!

Little old school hole in the wall. Was just in town for the horse races and I stumbled upon this place. The portions are MASSIVE and worth your money for sure. Incredibly delicious. It’s what you expect from a 101 year old Italian joint. Nothing fancy, but just quality food and amazing service. Dan the bartender was awesome. Shoutout from south shore MA!

We had a very good meal there. The service was good, just slow. We were there for almost 2 hours in total. But it’s a nice place and the food was very good. I had the egg-battered haddock, which was excellent and the size of the haddock filet was enormous. I was starving and I had trouble finishing it. The house salad dressing was very good also. My boyfriend had chicken and broccoli over penne with a garlic butter sauce which he also enjoyed. We had an odd experience with a couple of other diners from other tables literally reaching over us to adjust the thermostat before and then after a waitress or someone from the kitchen popped out to look at the thermostat and adjust it back down. Neither one of these men acknowledged that we were sitting there as they reached over us to adjust the thermostat on the wall above our table in a building that they weren’t paying the heat for and that clearly the kitchen/wait staff hadn’t been asked about as she popped out of the kitchen to specifically look at the thermostat and readjust it. Other than that bizarre behavior from those guys, it was a pleasant dinner and the food was excellent.

Between the house salad dressing to the best lasagna I’ve ever had in my life, I cannot recommend this place enough. My parents just bought a house in Saratoga and couldn’t stop talking about this wonderful Italian place they found and said I had to try it the next time I came up and I’m so happy I did. Their tomato sauce is absolutely delicious and their wait staff is so sweet and welcoming. Every person that comes upstate with me now has the pleasure of trying out this new staple in our family. Pennell’s is truly a gem and Saratoga is so lucky to have them!
