Update: The food ended up being horrible from this latest order. The carne asada plate made three of sick to our stomachs. The meat was tough and obviously the cheapest cut.
This is sad as my family enjoyed this establishment in the past but unfortunately, after this latest debacle, we won’t be back.
I’ve heard amazing things about this place, mainly about the birria tacos. I imagined the birria tacos being tasty and gooey with cheese. I was excited to finally go.
The waiting from ordering to getting our food was 45+ minutes. Unless the food is absolutely amazing, that’s just too long of a time to wait in my opinion. The tables are much to small to sit at and the chairs are the metal wire sided chairs. They are not very comfortable to sit in, which isn’t usually a problem, unless you have to sit for 45+ minutes.
The meat in the birria tacos was amazing, they had great flavor and great texture. The consome sauce was very tasty and very hot. The birria taco shells were not warm, they were like when fried food has gone cold. This also made the shells were also very hard. The cheese that was inside the tacos, was melted at one point, but has since harden again. No gooey cheese.
I have never had huraches before, so I didn’t know what I was getting into. The meat on the huraches was good, but the huraches seemed bland overall. There are sauces to dip your food in and they were good.
If I were to go again, I would probably go at a strange time so the wait isn’t so long. I also would not get the signature birria tacos, but try a burrito instead.
I was very excited to find a spot in Eastern Idaho that serves up birria tacos. Unfortunately, I can’t say I loved them. They were good enough to satisfy the craving but not something I would go out of my way for. The birria meat was tender & fairly tasty. However, the tacos were fried in a way that made the tortillas have an almost stale-like texture. It wasn’t crispy in a good way…more like hard to bite. The consome was severely lacking in flavor. I added some lime and that made it slightly better but still not great. I also ordered asada tacos, which I probably prefer.
You know what was absolutely delicious? The whipped orange drink (found by the soft drinks). Definitely recommend.
The pricing is fairly expensive for what you get. Of course, I am very used to getting my tacos in Vegas/Southern California so I may be a bit biased
The interior was very clean and well managed. The staff was nice & efficient. I walked in on a Wednesday evening & didn’t have much of a wait.
Overall, it was a “average” experience. I’m hoping I can find something on the menu that knocks it out of the park.
