I was trying to find an old restaurant I used to visit for great Jjajangmyeon, and although this wasn’t the exact place I remembered, I was very satisfied.
They served a small egg soup as a welcome dish — warm, light, and comforting on an empty stomach.
During lunch time, I tried the stir-fried vegetables, which were fresh and perfectly seasoned without being too salty.
I also liked that they offered small-size bowls of Jjajangmyeon — just right for a light meal.
Everything tasted great, and I definitely recommend visiting this place!

The man who served my order was really nice but the older woman working at the front was kind of mean? She said bye to other guests extremely nice and smiled a lot but when I was leaving, she wasn’t smiley/inviting, and smacked the check tab i gave her really hard on the front desk. The food had a homemade, warm taste and it was cheap. I enjoyed it a lot! I liked the other service but the woman in the front could treat others more fairly. I tipped ~18% and also cleaned my table before i left, and wasn’t rude/demanding.

I came with friends who were very familiar with the restaurant. Followed all their recommendations and everything was delicious and each dish had a unique flavor. It’s as authentically Chinese/Korean flavors as I ever crave and it’ll be a regular stop for me as often as I can. I can’t wait to take my dad here for dinner because it has our favorite Sizzling Rice Soup the way we enjoyed it when I was growing up.

pan fried dumplings- excellent, perfect oily crispy goodness and the filling was the best I’ve enjoyed in a long while

sizzling rice soup- must have for comfort food
walnut shrimp- generous portions all around- perfectly fried and candy glazed
sweet and sour chicken- crispy goodness!!
jjangmyeon (sp??) another crowd favorite!!
fried rice- a favorite
Mongolian beef- flavorful too

Note to try their egg rolls next time so I can hopefully enjoy another favorite appetizer of mine.

Service was very quick and helpful. They were so kind on our visit and attentive to clearing our plates. Despite some of the reviews (via Yelp) below, my first visit here went very well. We were celebrating two friends’ birthdays and it was such a delicious and enjoyable get together. Love our friends’ recommendations!!

All the dishes are delicious. The stir‑fried seafood and vegetable medley and the braised meatball dish are both outstanding.

The food is above average compared to other Korean style Chinese restaurants. Good spicy seafood noodle and black noodle. Quality of the ingredients are good and fresh.

But what compelled me to write this review is the ownership seem to deeply care about customer satisfaction, and their service have always been consistently attentive and friendly (and not surprising that it is packed even during weekdays). I hope this restaurant continues to thrive and wish great success.

Came here for some noodles on New Year’s day. Noodles for longevity, right!? Overall food was pretty good, but my favorite part was the kimchi.

Ordered two noodle dishes, the Jajangmyeon and the Jjamppong which are two Korean dishes I’ve had before, but not here. I will saw that these are two dishes that are somewhat nostalgic, since I’ve had them a good amount of times as a child. As with many dishes like that, there is a certain flavor I’m expecting. These two were not exactly that, but still pretty good in general.

The Jajangmyeon (black bean noodle) has that really savory (slightly sweet) black bean sauce with the chewy noodles. If you have never had this dish, the dark color might scare you off, but give it a try, the flavor is not as intimidating as the overall look is. There’s chopped up onions, other vegetables and small pieces of beef inside. The overall flavor was there, but I think it just needed that flavor more concentrated.

The Jjamppong which is a spicy soup was comforting on a cold New Years morning. There’s carrots, onions, zucchini, squid and shrimp in this one. It’s not as spicy as it appears from the color and I’d actually enjoy it more if it had more spice. Along with that you get that “seafood” flavor, so if that’s not your thing, be warned. I believe the noodles are the same type as in the Jajangmyeon.

This is a Chinese/Korean restaurant, as opposed to solely Korean, and they only give out one banchan, the kimchi. I was actually surprised that it was so good. It’s sweeter in flavor than usual and of course has the slight spice and sour pickled flavor. Got several refills of this one.

It’s a pretty basic designed place with lots of tables. There appeared to be many larger groups being accommodated for the holiday. Even though it was quite busy, service was quick and attentive.

If you are looking for some of the best kimchi, along with the entrees, try this place out.

I drive up from San Diego for this, and it’s so worth it every time.

2019: Peking gourmet is delicious. As good as in Korea for sure.

UPDATE 2020: yup, still delicious.
Also, I saw no mention of this, so I will.
PEOPLE, PLEASE TRY THEIR 간짜장.
IT. IS. SO. DANG. GOOD. Change your life with 간짜장, you won’t regret it.

UPDATE 2021 (6/2021): this place is so good that updating my review over the years is almost becoming pointless…. BUT, I realized that last year I shouted out the 간짜장 without even posting a pic! I added a few more photos to help out my fellow noodle lovers. Eat your heart out guys. Leave some for me tho. *pro tip, ALWAYS get your sauce on the side for entree orders (pork, shrimps, etc) . Dip and go as you eat. This way, you get that crunch even during the 4th quarter of your meal. #winning #yourwelcome

UPDATE 2022:
Yup, still Yes.

UPDATE 2023 (5/13/23):
Stillllll yes! I came in just half an hour before closing due to traffic driving up from San Diego. But the owner and staff still greeted me with kindness, and my food was as AMAZING as always. Thank you guys

This is Chinese restaurant but owned and run by Korean family. You can find typical Chinese food as well as some popular Korean noodles. The food is very good and they offer free kimchi (free refills).
