This is my husband’s favorite spot to eat when we visit Iowa City for appointments. It is on our way back home from the hospital. We have eaten at all times of the day. I do suggest if you want fresher hot food to go at lunch or supper time. As the middle of the afternoon the food if good but it has been sitting awhile. Lunch and supper have always been delicious. One of my favorites is the hot crab and cheese dish! The building is looking aged and the bathroom needs some deep cleaning. The service has always been excellent, with light music in the background.

From what I had heard this place USED to be great, but as I was greeted with paper plates and red Solo cups for my meal, I started to worry. Then comes the food; I’m sorry but you can have the absolute best staff in the world, but if your food looks and tastes like it has been out for a month, you’ve got problems. Then, after struggling through what we had assumed to be the safest options, we found plastic in the ice cream. If you want Chinese there are a hundred places around that would be better than Peking, including frozen from Walmart.

Has got to be one of the top three worse places I have ever eaten at. The buffet was 90% empty the whole time we were there, and what pans had food in them were cold and had been sititng forever. The plates were paper , silverware plastic and drink cups were red solo cups. Which i might say the fountain pop in the red solo cups was the best thing at this place. It was very very over priced for 2 adults, 6yr old, 7yr old and 3 drinks were almost $54.00 for an empty buffet.

Stopped in at an off time, but food was almost inedible. Paper plates, thin plastic cutlery, and red solo cups said everything I needed to know.
I’ve eaten here before and had great luck. I hope they make the changes needed to survive in the industry.
Our server was very polite, as was everyone working there today.

I usually try to come here at least once a month. The best time is within the first hour of opening for the freshest selections. After that, you may have to wait for your favourites to be replenished. I especially like the seafood medley, fresh suchi, sticky rice & egg drop soup. The Ice Cream bar has a wide selection, to include sherbet. Unfortunately, not all patrons are sanitary conscious, especially unsupervised children. I would suggest soft-serve machines & adding Frozen Yogurt for those of us who cannot eat ice cream.
Even though this is a self-serve buffet, the staff are very attentive, friendly and helpful. I woll definitely return.

IT had been years since we’ve been here, no the same. Food trays were empty, never filled up, not fresh. Seemed they had very large party to deliver for, trays covered for carryout lined up but the customers in restaurant weren’t taken care of. Hopefully it’s not like that all the time.

This place was amazing, years ago….. since their remodel (also years ago) ive tried visiting now and then and, ugh. It’s always a disappointment.
You use papers plates… and drinks are served in solo cups. How many bags of plates and cups trash do you think they have in a single day? That seems insanely terrible for the environment.
If their floor is even slightly wet, you will fall. Beware. They sometimes have rugs pretty much running throughout the entire tile floor because of it. Very ghetto. Ha
And lastly, the food, it’s nothing special. Their fried rice tasted like Mexican rice today. Interesting.

Absolute shame. I’ve never been given red solo cups and paper dishes and plastic silverware at a restaurant. The server was the only nice thing in the place. The tables, seats, buffet area. All of it was trashed and looked like they were pulled off of the street. All of the food either tasted like microwave food or food poisoning. This place is a disgrace please do not eat here save your self.

Sometimes the food is better than other times. I think it depends on when you eat? On average it’s pretty good food.

We went here with a group of 10 friends after an event last weekend. We usually go to Hong Kong Buffet and enjoy it immensely, but were told of this place & decided to try something new.
The restaurant was hopping with patrons so we were seated in the back dining room. There were two large tables available but for some reason the host chose to seat us at the back one which was right next to the soda fountain & the cart where they were clearing plates and stacking the dirty dishes.
Normally I would not mind this except that the waiter and hostess kept scowling and pushing past us, bumping into our chairs every time they needed to walk back there. We felt hovered over and as if we were in the way.
The waiter, a young man in either his late teens or early twenties, who chose to seat us there in the first place, points to my three year old granddaughter and asks, “How old is the kid?”
Needless to say, I was unimpressed.
The restaurant seemed clean and most everything was full and fairly fresh. The food was adequate, some was even delicious, however, our experience was dampened my their rude treatment.
Rather than seating in where we would clearly in their way and then acting disgusted and pushing past us every two minutes, we should have been seated at the other table and my beautiful three year old granddaughter is a little lady, not just a “kid”. He needs to learn some respect.
