I placed a catering order with Peacock, Dublin for 15 people two days in advance for my child’s small birthday party held on 31st January. Unfortunately, the experience was very disappointing. The paneer biryani had a strong used-oil/bad oil smell and was completely inedible. I had to throw it away to avoid risking my guests’ health, and several guests also complained about the smell.

The chicken biryani had a similar odor, though slightly milder. We managed to serve it, but the taste was still not good. Given the expectations, I did not expect such an unpleasant smell in the food.

Other items were also below expectations. Only the goat curry was acceptable. The carrot halwa appeared to have artificial red color added, which was disappointing.

Overall, the food quality was poor, and the guests were unhappy. This was not the experience I expected from Peacock, Dublin for a special occasion like my child’s birthday.

We went for buffet on women’s day! Nothing was good or tasty. None of the items were fresh! The chicken curry was clearly evident that it was previous day food. It is absolutely not worth for the money paid

Attended a small gathering birthday party yesterday, food ordered from this restaurant.
Starters (both veg and non-veg) were very bland. The paneer curry was overly sweet, and the paneer biryani tasted bad, almost rancid, trashed it. Chicken biryani and mutton curry were slightly better than the other items, but still not impressive.

Overall, I would not recommend this place for party orders. It’s better to try the food at the restaurant first, and if you like it, then consider ordering for a party.

the guy in the front desk has big attitude, who don’t care to seat a customer nor acknowledge the waiting customer when there is hardly one person there is called not just attitude, it’s careless ness.
Food is decent and because of service guys, cleanliness, I gave 3, else no worth one star. Fish was salty and the chicken curry is bit bland.

Update: 1/12/23
Buffet was decent. Don’t think we would go again given the prices. Take out May be.

We visited This place for buffet on a Tuesday afternoon. The place was semi full. 2 servers. Some of the trays were partially empty and were not filled for several minutes. They bring bread to table. It’s a small basket that has 1 naan cut into 4 pieces. If you are planning on coming here with your family not the right place at all. Probably the goal is to avoid giving bread. No bread no entrees needed. Don’t recommend at all. Giving 1 star for ambience and 1 star for desserts that were good.

Biriyani Mutton used to be extremely good here. The quality suddenly dropped last week. Don’t know if they have a change of Chef’s. Yesterday when I called to place an order for two mutton Dum Biriyani for take out, the person gave me an arrogant response of “do u want to still place ur order”. It was the right logical question to ask, but it did have a bad taste of arrogance. I hope this place comes back with better weekend mutton biriyani, while I switch to Fremont for better options

I really wanted to give Peacock another chance, but the buffet was disappointing yet again. 6 of us had buffet on 01/10/2025

The curd rice had hard, undercooked rice, the chicken tandoori was cold and not cooked well, and the boneless biryani had barely any pieces and wasn’t refilled. The chicken tikka masala was overwhelmingly sweet — so sweet it honestly felt like it belonged in the dessert section. Veg curries were bland, Goan fish curry was mediocre, and the goat curry was the only decent dish.

The buffet looks large at first, but it’s mostly repetition — multiple sections of the same papads, onion salad, and condiments.

I had a buffet here years ago and remember not wanting to return, but gave it another try due to friends insisting. Unfortunately, Peacock continues to be consistently mediocre, especially for $27 per head (incl. tax).

Please work on flavors, food quality, invest on proper chefs and overall service. There’s lot of potential here in Pleasanton, but it’s not reflected in the buffet.

One of the best Indian Buffets around. Always lots of fun options to choose from (with different items shuffling in and out of the menu). Buffet is ~$21 when I last visited in Mid-September 2025. It can get crowded on weekends, but they do a great job of keeping the buffet filled and fresh.

Update 1/24: Food quality has gone down a bit since last time I visited. As some others posted, several dishes were WAY tooo sweet (in an off-putting way) and some of the meat dishes were only lukewarm. Still mostly ok otherwise but updating food from 5 stars to 3 stars.

The food was excellent, the service was prompt, and the food was freshly prepared. The servers were very friendly and attentive. I will definitely plan to return in the future.
