Doing things different, better, and the right way, was always a goal at the Peachtree, proclaim Mrs. Willis. With the success of the Peachtree Buffet, Vera and Lavell expanded the Peachtree to include a cafeteria-style, sit-down restaurant in the Historic Gates BBQ plaza in July of 2014. Along with traditional Southern Cuisine, the menu was expanded to include seafood and hand-carved steak. Our Peachtree mission is to please every guest, leaving them with a one-of-a-kind dining experience. No doubt when you visit the unique award-winning Peachtree Restaurant, You will feel at home!

So the service is cafeteria style which is very nice… you can get select whatever you like and you can see how the food looks… Okay I started with a cup of gumbo. Being from down south gumbo is a staple in the southern culture so it is always fun to try other states interpretation of it. I will give the gumbo 10/10. The gumbo had a kick to it, which is how I like it. The seafood in the gumbo taste fresh, the chicken had a nice pepper sear on it which tied in the flavors. Overall I appreciate the dedication to the flavors and how they blended together. Shortly afterwards I had chicken, greens, Mac and Cheese, yams with a sweet potato cornbread. Yams, Mac and cheese, greens too delicious. The chicken was lightly seasoned, definitely a universal piece but had a good crunch. The sweet potato cornbread MY GOODNESS.„ box it up and sell it across the sea. It is literally mouth watering. The lemonade is so sweet and refreshing. The German chocolate cake was delicious as well. Carefully curated! Oh and the music, r&b, will have you swaying while eating. It’s a vibe.

They closed down the serve yourself all you can eat buffet during Covid. So now they run a buffet line, where you tell them what you want as you travel down the line, and they dish it for you. You then go down the line to the cashier and pay. You can choose to eat in or take it out.. I always get the smothered porkchops and Salisbury steak. (which are both fall off the bone tender) The meat is so tender and succulent. Everything here is like your Grammy made it..
The green and green beans are seasoned to perfection. The Mac and cheese is baked with several cheeses… so so good! They also have delicious sautéed cabbage, and peach cobbler to die for. Home baked rolls and mammas cornbread! omgoodness… I can’t stop salivating, even though I can’t eat another bite!

Finally visited this unique place. Peachtree does not offer health food but soul food! I havent had this good soul food since I lived in LA (Lower Alabama)! Peachtree Cafeteria no longer has a buffet, but serves from a cafeteria style bar. I got the fried catfish which was excellent. I could not tell for sure, but the mash potatoes tasted like they came from a box. I love collards greens and theirs were excellent. Unfortunately, the peach cobbler was soupy. Service was great; polite, and responsive. Portions plenty at a reasonable price. I will definately return.

The food was excellent. It’s tough to find good value AND excellent … Well, The Cafeteria had both. Service was great except for a little bump in the serving, but, overall it was a warm, delicious experience. The Big Momma was what I got and it didn’t disappoint. The broccoli casserole, the meshed potatoes were fantastic, the chicken was good and I’m taking the fish and meatloaf home because the portions had me stuffed. The rolls… I wept because they taste exactly like those my mom used to make. This is worth the money, worth your time and was absolutely home cooking at its finest.

Do not listen to any of the haters with zero taste buds. No, it is not too salty. Yes, they use spices, like you are supposed to. I had the fried chicken, greens, mac and cheese, and the mashed potatoes and gravy. This is soul food to ease your woes. Make sure to tip the friendly staff, and try the dessert if you have room.

This restaurant I say 3 stars the catfish I asked for fresh fish and it was very fresh hot, and good that was the best the sides I didn’t care for mash potatoes and gravy tasted like it has been sitting for hours, yams was overly sweet Mac n cheese was dried , corn bread overly sweet. The staff was polite.

Peace tree is no longer my go to place for soul food in Kansas City…. The restaurant has been taken over by young females who are rude, disrespectful, and lack customer service….. The guy at the counter doing the exchange of money is even worse.
I will not ever dine and spend another dollar of mines after 20 years with Peachtree.
The current staff and the culture in Peachtree will soon have its Doors closed permanently.

OUTSTANDING!!! My brothers and I were in town for a conference and wanted some local food. We ordered to go, but everything was immaculate! The fish, the ribs, the chicken and sides were all delicious. The food coma was unavoidable. A special shoutout to Ricky for cooking fish right as they were about to close and taking good care for us even though our timing wasn’t the best!

I have only been to this place twice, and both times were great! The server’s are extremely nice, and they hooked me and my boyfriend’s plates up!!! The prices are VERY affordable for the large portion that you get! Overall, this place is great, and I have truly been sleeping on them!!!
