Overall, our experience was…fine. Nothing outstanding, nothing bad. The onion rings were hot and tasty. The carnitas tacos were reported to be very good and were well-liked. The Pauly burger maybe wasn’t my thing (not a fan of the sauce), but there was nothing wrong with it. After ordering, I realized I wasn’t asked temp for my burger (I like well-done), but that is how it came anyway.
Prices are a little expensive for what you get- burgers come with a bag of old dutch chips, otherwise there’s a hefty upcharge to fries or other sides.
We went around 2pm and it was fairly busy. Atmosphere was cozy and inviting. Service was not overly friendly, but efficient. No offer to refill sodas.

I have lived in the area for almost ten years and have seen this location turn over restaurant after restaurant – hoping this isn’t the case for Pauly’s. When they first opened it was great! Good food, good service and clean! Everything is slowly going downhill – I will say they did drop their prices slightly from when they first opened. If you sit in the bar area, don’t be in a hurry. The employees pay more attention to each other than their guests. Our last visit was 4:00 on a Saturday- not an overly busy time – I watched a table sit and wait for a tab, looking for their server (bartender) for almost ten minutes, the table behind them was left with dirty dishes for almost ten minutes. The tables are almost always sticky. The bathrooms are gross and you are never sure what is going to work. The food is typically good but our most recent visit I got what they called an chicken tortilla soup and it was literally chicken noodle soup with tortilla strips in lieu of noodles. It took over 5 minutes for get greeted, ha to ask for more water, servers only checked in when it was obvious that we needed something and even that took a while. Bartender was more focused on pull tabs and her POS system than customers sitting in the bar area. Oh! and the worse part of it all was one of the owners was sitting at the table next to us and didn’t seem to mind at all.

A neighborhood bar worthy of the people we love here in Saint Paul so much. Cannot highly recommend the cocktails (theyd only get 3 stars), but other than that, there’s not much you could ask to improve. Loved the tot / onion ring / burger game, scene, service and vibes very much

Overall, our visit was… pretty average Nothing spectacular, but nothing disappointing either. The onion rings were definitely a highlight — served hot, crispy, and full of flavor The carnitas tacos were said to be really tasty and were genuinely enjoyed

I ordered the Pauly burger, and while it wasn’t exactly my favorite (the sauce just wasn’t my style), there was absolutely nothing wrong with it. It was cooked well, and even though I wasn’t asked how I wanted it done, it actually came out well-done — which is how I prefer it

The prices feel a bit on the higher side for what you receive. Burgers come with a small bag of Old Dutch chips, and upgrading to fries or another side costs quite a bit extra We visited around 2pm, and the place was fairly busy. The atmosphere felt cozy and welcoming ✨ Service was efficient but not especially warm, and there wasn’t an offer to refill our sodas. Overall, a decent experience.

This is such a friendly neighborhood pub with a warm atmosphere, great food, and welcoming service. They offer multiple unique specials and events, always have a spot available to squeeze your party in, and provide thorough, fast service. We had their burgers and they’re one of the best ones we’ve had since moving to the Twin Cities, they don’t cut corners and the portions are great.

As I entered Pauly’s, it was definitely a bustling place, with awesome 80s rock blaring and it was pretty busy, not too busy to find a spot, but lively. It was a weekend night.
I say at the bar. Behind the bar was Bree and sometimes Jim, one of the owners.

Even though Bree recommended the Pauly’s Old Fashioned, I decided to get the blackberry martini to start. It was the right blend of sweet, sour, and booze to get my appetite and mood flowing right.

I ordered the Minnesotan Burger, which for real had some spice to it. The jalapenos they use must be very fresh because they pack a punch. The burger meat was quality, and they topped it with bacon and pepper-jack cheese.
I have no idea why they call the spicy burger the Minnesotan, since most Minnesotans are spicy adverse, but it’s probably more for the Bold North kind of Minnesotan.

I ordered it with fries. Pauly’s menu is kind of cool. It’s a little more to pretty fries, so you won’t have to feel obligated to eat them or won’t waste them if you don’t eat fries. But if you want fries, it’s there. I actually offered it with the Top of the Tartar sour cream, which was also good.

For dessert, I ordered the recommended Pauly’s Old Fashioned. And I agree, it was a good one.

This is my new local neighborhood bar. Everything is pretty similar priced (as of now), which I like so I just get what I want instead of just ordering an appetizer to save a few bucks.

On a separate night, I just stopped in for a quick bite and got the chili, which was spot on great chili (not spicy).

You can’t just press a regular patty hard and make it a smash burger. Food has an industrial mass produced/frozen taste. Dishes arrived very quickly, almost too quickly. Decor is flashy with cheap undertone. Service was ok, cannot say if it was genuine though.

I’ve been here twice. The first time was 4 stars, but the second time lead to the lower rating. First the good things: I’m glad to have a family option in the neighborhood. If you like burgers, this is your place. The drinks are good and the beer selection is great. The staff is very friendly and the service is fast.
The disappointing parts: if you don’t like burgers, your options are really limited. I got soup and a salad. The soup was bland. Maybe my fault for not ordering a burger, but I don’t eat red meat. (No turkey burger options either). I took a bite into an onion ring, and found it to be frozen solid. We mentioned it to our server, but she didn’t seem to be too concerned. I wasn’t expecting to get it comped, but I was expecting some sort of apology. Finally, it’s super loud. I know that they just opened and I was told that they are working on it but on our second visit, I didn’t notice an improvement. Like so loud that we couldn’t hear each other across the table.
I’m hoping that they will add at least one turkey burger to the menu.

Overall, pretty good! It was busy and loud but that’s to be expected since it just opened. My husband and I got burgers and the potato bites app. The potatoes came on a wooden tray with a bunch of lettuce and they were pretty bland. I like the burgers though! Great bun and the burgers tasted great. Your side options are either a bag of chips (so tacky!) or crinkle fries (very good but not worth $3 extra). Servers were very attentive and kind. If they added a bit more flavor to the potatoes and stopped serving bagged chips, they would be great! If they had homemade chips I would go all the time!

Ordered delivery. Can’t speak for the service or atmosphere. I ordered a French dip sandwich and came with a bag of chips. I feel it was not worth $19.50. The sandwhich was a bit small. I also ordered a French onion soup and the taste was nothin special. The price almost $9 for a bowl. Price is okay for the soup. Both orders lacked taste though. Might try the burger, but not rushing to get there anytime soon.
