We got their food for a Christmas meal at work, which we also did last year. It tasted great both times. There was pulled pork, potatoes, green beans, cornbread, and brownies. My favorite would probably be the pulled pork. Just make sure to put barbecue sauce on it. We had a few sauce options and I prefer the regular. The people who brought the food to us were very friendly. Definitely a good choice to get food from there.

All the different meats were so tender and tasty. The price was fabulous, you can bit that place.

Last week I visited Pauly’s BBQ for the first time. We were promptly greeted and the service was great. The beef brisket, pulled pork nacho’s, and fried pickles were excellent. Price’s are reasonable for the sizeable portions. Would recommend to any BBQ fans visiting Arthur Illinois.

First time here. We enjoyed our meal. Beef brisket was as good as I have tasted anywhere. Fried green beans were excellent. French fries were more like steak fries. We arrived at 11:00 AM and the place was full when we finished.

Quite a small restaurant with lots of flavor!
We waited 20 minutes for seating for 5 people. Not a long wait at all.
We were seated, waitress was very kind, already knew what we were ordering, placed our ordered.
45 minutes still waiting for our food. We’re all human people make mistakes, our order was accidentally never placed.
Over all the small hog trough was absolutely stellar. We appreciated the discount. I would give them a second and maybe 3rd chance

I usually love this place and they have delicious food, but we ate there today and I was with my elderly parents that don’t eat that much. When we ordered our food my parents said they were sharing a meal and the very kind waitress asked if we would like an extra plate and I say yes that would be great. So we ate and received our bill and they charged us 1.50 for the extra plate. I ask our kind waitress if that charge was because they shared a meal and she said no it’s because you used the extra plate. I was stunned I’m like really?? I think that’s completely taking advantage of people and I was totally angry. I didn’t say anything else but,I’m not sure I’ll be back and if I do I’ll not ask for a plate if I’m going to share lol. How ridiculous

I had a great late lunch today. The place is small and today I counted 9 workers there today.
But, I couldn’t even get my waitress to return to refill my water. They need to work on service rather than mingling and socializing behind the counter.

My first experience and it won’t be my last. Eating solo was a challenge when I realized there was no seating inside, however the option to order to go was attractive. Turned out to be a great decision with outdoor seating under a glorious sun. Took my leftovers home to my dad who also enjoyed the smoked turkey, super yummy beans, very unique and delicious potatoes . We both agreed the best cornbread ever!!

Food was good, had the ribs, brisket, wings, ribs were too notch, sides were great too, overall it was good food and a nice time. My party and I have had better brisket elsewhere but for me I’ve only had better in Texas and for my party it was in Georgia, for Illinois this is among the best I’ve had. Wings were good and well done but maybe a bit small. Our server was working solo and obviously really stressed out from all the eclipse customers passing through, I wish the place had staffed better because the poor girl looked ready to explode the whole time.
Overall the food was good, good value, the service was as good as can be, and the people were friendly.
The metal roof acts as a faraday cage so cell phones don’t work inside consistently.
If I was going through the area I would like to stop in again, maybe on a less busy day, maybe I’ll update my rating to 5* then, but for now based on my one visit, 4, wish I could do 4.5

Excellent! Wife and I shared the large hog trough. “Hobo potatoes” plenty of pulled pork, cheese, sour cream. I forgot to ask for jalapenos. Cornbread was moist and sweet, and exactly the way I like it. We recommend it! I like that you can put your own type and amount of sauce on. Original, Sweet and hot. There was a fourth bottle. I think it may have been a green Chile type. I did not taste that one. Hot was not super hot to me anyway. But nice heat.
If you’re ever in Arthur, IL you have to stop. Don’t forget the jalapenos!
