When the rest of Oak Island goes quiet, Paul’s is still alive. Garage doors open. TVs glow. The night finally has a pulse again for guests from Oak Island, Southport, St James, and Bald Head Island who need real food after 9pm. This is the area’s only true late-night sports bar and restaurant. Smashburgers with real sear, Calabash seafood that locals insist visitors try, wings with deliberate seasoning, and fries from a dedicated gluten-free fryer. Families drift toward the arcade, sports crews take the bar, and vacationers treat it as their dependable stop. Guests talk about the smashburger like it sets the standard and the service like it feels personal. Perfect for post-beach dinners, game nights, and late-night bites.

Update this review 18 days later we were back with some of the best food and service from Jackalyne out waitresses. The cheese curds & shrimp quesodilla are great to share as well as the beet and goat cheese salad topped with chicken or shrimp. Both amazing. Thank you again!
I’ve literally been to about a dozen sports bars in the area now and it’s all the same fried frozen overpriced food.
My family and I decided to pop in here over Labor Day weekend. Our goal was to watch some of the Ohio State game and have some good food! This place hit on everything I needed!
I love the menu with the custom drinks from the bartenders, Kids menus are awesome as well and the kids get something to draw with. I love that it’s a sports bar, but it’s still family friendly enough. Great beer selection and I love that has the giant garage door so you get the breeze from the outside!
I got the wings, which are my favorite ones since I moved here. They are fresh not frozen, I got them with the traditional hot sauce, which was meeting expectation. I’m excited to go back and try their other sauces. I also got a BLT, which was huge! Kids got the mac & cheese and the chicken nugget. My daughter didn’t care for the mac & cheese because she’s used to craft this place actually makes real mac & cheese with actual seasoning so we decided to keep the mac & cheese and me and my wife split it lol. My wife got the burger, but she was really happy about it was served on toasted sourdough bread so she liked that it was crispy as well!
Overall, I would rate this place, a five out of five. The service wasn’t spectacular, but this was the first day for college football and a holiday weekend so I’m definitely willing to come back and try again!
Aye aye. The service is absolutely ridiculous. The older guy bartender picks up the slack. He’s good. He’s personable and works efficiently. I took my mom there on Thanksgiving, second time we’ve been there. And the fish and chips were actually pretty good!!! My smash burger had about 7$ of seasoning on it and I took 2 bites. I watched 4 families walk out just waiting to get drinks or put an order in. The server had zero hurry bone in her body. I had to go to the bar to ask the gentleman for my moms water and pink lemonade. I don’t care about me. It was Thanksgiving and I wanted it ok for my mom. We had to make our Thanksgiving on Friday for family, so we picked Paul’s on Thursday. Yet on Thanksgiving, it wasn’t even that busy, dudes from BOH standing around in the front area , she can’t keep track of tables or even NOTICED 4 families get up and leave, and the whole time complaining she “was there all day” I cleaned 3 tables and had to ask for my own starter sauce, and a just water for myself after 30 minutes. Two bites out of the burger and I had a tummy ache the whole night, left 18$ riggt there on the table. The fish and chips, again, were very good though. If you can’t handle 7 tables sporadically, don’t be a server.
